I purchased a butler creek 10/22 25rd mag. It will not work with either hollow points or round nose ammo. Any ideas on how to fix it? Or is my gun just too picky?
Oh btw it just shoots one round and doesnt quite eject the shell.

How many times have you used it? Are you using the original stock or an aftermarket stock? I have two and they work fine with Rem Brass Plated Hollow points.
If it's not ejecting completely, that sounds like underpowered ammo. What brand are you using? Also, make sure you clean the rifle very well. That could also be it.
Check the top of the feed lips on the magazine to see if the bolt is making contact. It could be excess friction is slowing the bolt and interferring with the ejection process. It there are indications of friction on the top of the feed lips you may need to remove a slight bit of material to allow the bolt free operation.

I think this is it. Now that you mention it I do see some marks.
The gun was fully cleaned, and worked with any ammo in the original mag.
I have bigger problems now... the gun started bump firing (previous owner had the trigger lightened, I believe this is where the problem is coming from). Glad this gun never sold! I wont be shooting it until its fixed now.

Good thing you didn't sell it, a occasional double would make it a class three to the feds and you don't want that kind of trouble.

Take it back for an exchange if possible. Occasionally the feed lips are tweaked on the "Hot Lips" Also the stock can make a difference as well as after market mag releases. The BX-1 ruger mags are bullet proof. I've gone to this set up and never have a snag.
My 10/22 doesn't like some types of ammo, any un-plated lead bullet for the most part. Also, I would definitely clean the crap out of it. It's also possible you got a defective mag, there is a lot of plastic on those, so maybe something's screwy.
The piece of info. not mentioned was where the Butler Creek magazines
were Steel lips or Hot lips. Steel lips on top looks like the Ruger stock
magazine; the Hot lips are all plastic top to bottom
The Steel lips seem to work fine, I'm looking for the Steel lips ones.
