| China's flag to be flown at White House?
Check out this story. It doesn't have many details, so I may try to find some more information about this. Just for the record, I am not in a panic over this. I am, though, wondering why we have such short memories in this country. I know, I know, China is a great place. I mean, they don't have a bad record on human rights or anything...and they definitely didn't poison pet food (THAT KILLED ONE OF MY PETS!)...nor did they REFUSE to give shelter to two US Navy ships a couple years ago (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/28/wo...avy.html)...no, they're good guys. I'm glad they don't poison our toys with lead. Best buds. And it's not like they use government sponsored hackers to constantly attack our defense networks. No way. I doubt they'd ever crash a fighter into one of our Navy birds, either, take the crew hostage and rape our plane...then make us beg for it and charge us for damage to their runway...and make us hire a Russian airplane to get it back. Naw. Good folk. I hope they enjoy the best access to the White House that money can buy. China's national flag to go up in White House on Sept 20 Oh, and it's not AT ALL like Chinese military leadership threatened to nuke us in 2005 if we defended Taiwan against Chinese attack. No, they didn't at all say they'd trade half of China in a nuclear war with us because they'd still win by sheer numbers. Not at all. They are our friends. I love the Chinese (GOVERNMENT, not people). I bet you can tell. I do loves me some Chinese food, though! Oh, and they did put on a good Olympics. It would have been real great if slaves weren't worked to death for it, or people weren't put in jail cells while it was underway, but hey, it was good TV! I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell me this is a great thing. It helps our relations and is a bold move to show how much we respect the dragon. Or that it's happened before. Maybe someone will even post a picture of Jiang Zemin and Bush at Bush's ranch to illustrate how this is okay (because Bush did it). I can't wait. Barf.

Of course you don't. But I bet if Bush or some other Republican was occupying the White House and this was taking place, well, I think it would be a different story. But I am sure if you weren't, I'm sure every friggin' liberal blog, website and group, starting with moveon.org., the SEIU, and probably ACORN sure would have a problem with this if it were Bush or some other Republican. Heck, they're all still blaming him for everything. I mean, it's only been what, going on 9 months now. lol I'm not in a panic over it either. s done < Says this jokingly of course. But, it might be being done because China now owns the White House and the property it's on because of all the money we owe them? lol They probably wanted the White House and the property as collateral for yet another loan? LMAO

Relax and have a beer or something, Glock. I said 'I don't care,' not 'I don't care as long as it isn't Bush'....

Just as a matter of interest, why are they flying a Chinese flag at the white house? I could understand the Union Jack, but not any other.

The American Flag may be displayed with other flags as long as its display follows the rules specified by the Flag Code. These rules were set to make sure the American Flag is in a position of prominence over other flags. The flag represents the government of the United States, and on American soil, the government is the highest authority. The American flag is even displayed above church flags, except in rare instances. The Rules: When displayed with other flags, the size of the American Flag should be larger than the other flags or relatively equal to the size of the largest flag. Other flags should not overshadow the American Flag in any way. The American Flag should be flown higher than lesser flags. If the flags are displayed on the same level, the American Flag should be flown to the (flag's own) right of all other flags. The right is a position of prominence. If the flags of other nations are displayed with the American Flag, they should be of equal size and at equal heights on separate staffs at a time of peace. The American Flag should be displayed to the (flag's own) right but not higher than other national flags. In a group of state, local and/or society flags, the American Flag should be flown highest and in the center. The American Flag should be hoisted first and lowered last, when flown with other flags on adjacent staffs. When the American Flag is displayed against a wall with another flag, it should be on the (flag's own) right with its staff in front of the other flag. Another nation's flag shouldn't be displayed on the same halyard as the American Flag. If a state, local or society flags are flown on the same halyard with the American Flag, the American Flag should be at the top. If the American Flag is carried in a procession with other flags, it should be to its own right or in the center of a line of flags. Exceptions to the Rules: In any nation the national flag must be placed in a place of prominence. The flag code only applies to flags flown on American soil. In foreign waters or to salute a foreign country, the U.S. Navy may fly the country's national flag on the masthead of the ship. This is not a violation of the flag code because the code only applies to civilians (not the Navy), and also because the stern and gaff of a ship are more prominent positions to fly a flag. A church pennant may be flown above the American Flag if a church service is done by naval chaplains at sea for personnel of the Navy. After the service is over, the American Flag must again be placed in the prominent position. The United Nations' headquarters may fly the flags of all 188 member nations in alphabetical order. Although it is technically located within the United States (banks of the East River in Manhattan), the headquarters is owned by all the members of the United Nations, so it is not considered to be American soil. U.S.Code Title 4 ,Chapter 1, Section 7

I am curious why we are recognizing a Communist nation in such an honorable way. You want to know some anti-liberty rules they got over there, I'll give ya a few...out of personal experience. It really pains me to think this idiot president will let this go down. And, it also scares me to think what else he will let happen. I don't care if you think it is no big deal. It is about honor and recognition, and the Chinese nation deserves none. It is also about class and respect for sovereign free nations, which this president has neither class nor respect. Troy, you are a vet, and I do appreciate that you are. But, besides for the guy next to you in the dirt, what exactly did you fight for if not for Liberty, Justice and Freedom? Aren't those the three things that China does not represent, honor or provide? How can you sit idly by while our government praises such a country? Particularly in a place, the White House, that is supposed to behold everything this nation stands for and represents? I was pissed when Bush went prancing around with the Arabian Prince (king...whatever), and I am pissed at this. These people do not relfect what America is about...and it is wrong that our leaders are praising them like the best thing since the silicon implant.

The problem I have is we owe those A$$h0!35 money. and have done for a long time. way longer than 7 months. On a related note, I'm sending my NRA hat back. There is nothing, nothing in my mind more American the the NRA and yet the hat they sent me when I joined was made in China. If they are so in need of money that they have to buy their trinkets from china so be it. i'm just not wearing a hat with the Stars and Stripes that wasn't made here.

Whatever I fought for, it sure as !@#$ wasn't to bring Liberty, Justice and Freedom to the Chinese. They've plodded along for thousands of years without them, and I don't expect them to change their style anytime soon. I repeat: I don't care if they have their little flag-raising ceremony; I wouldn't have cared if they had been turned down. It isn't going to change anything at all that I can think of.

I don't care what China does in China either. But, this is America, and China does not reflect our values... To me, honoring them in some flag ceremony at the White House is like if Bush invited the KKK to have an honored celebratory BBQ get-together on the lawn of the US Capitol followed by a traditional Cross Burning, while he was in office. Again, this reflects who Obama associates with.

Besides, none of them are our president...this one is. I thought people vote for one person because of his/her unique qualities, not because they are as stupid as the rest.
