Cmp

I was wondering how many Californians are taking advantage of the CMP sales program?

How do I get involved. I'm in Bakersfield and would love to get my hands on a Garand.

Just have to be a U.S. Citizen, be or get a membership in a qualifying program or group. That's about it I believe. I'm sure I will get corrected if I'm wrong. And I'm not sure if there's something different as far as California goes though either???

They do have what one needs to do posted on their website...

A C&R is not required to get a Garand from CMP. However, having one will cost you 30 bucks AND will fill the requirement for (how do they word it?) being part of a shooting organization, or part of organized shooting or something.

Then you'll find there are lots of other fun guns you can get with your C&R.

Go to www.odcmp.org. The requirements are pretty straightforward. Basically proof of citizenship and marksmanship.

Yes, one has to shoot in a sanctioned CMP shoot at least once a year. That is the fun part! I shot in my first John C Garand service rifle shoot this year and had so much fun I could hardly wait for the next shoot!

cmp

Don,t need a crl
Do not have to shoot at all
Go to the web site and start having Garands, Carbines and ammo FedXed to your CA address without having to pay the transfer fee from your local dealer. ($50)

To date I have had
7 Garands
1 Carbine
1 A3-03 Remington
1 Mossburg 44 22lr.
and 576rds.
sent to my door in gun unfriendly Santa Clara County CA.

Take advantage of this while it lasts.

Wait, how did you fulfill the requirements for CMP without either a C&R or shooting? Also how do you have them shipped to your door in California without a C&R or FFL01 legally..?

These are interstate shipments which is why there is a need for an FFL.

cmp

I send a copy of

DD214 (Navy)

Drivers Licence

Birth Certificate

California rifle and pistol membership card ($20 a year)

Four page CMP order form including the one signed by a notary (I have them done at work for free)

And a personal check, moneyorder or credit card number for the amount

of up to Five (5) rifles per year.

After about 3 months, (give or take) Fed X brings the box to your door.

The field grade Garand I have on order

now came to $517.95 delivered.

No transfer fee, no 10 day wait (like 3 months isn't enough)

and no CA BS.

I have been dealing with (DCM) CMP since 1986 and never had a real

problem.

No FFL is needed. When Congress chartered the CMP, they exempted them from the Gun Control Act of 1968. They don't have an FFL and don't have to ship to an FFL.

the limit is actually higher than the 5 per year, you can do 12 garands per year, and so far no limit on carbines

the C&R gets you past the shooting requirement, but any range officer can do that for you instead. there is a form online you can print and take with you to take care of it. Shooting in a sanctioned match is not required, but supporting the shooting community is recommended.

you do need to be a member of a CMP okayed organization, garand collectors assoc, cal rifle and pistol(would recommend for any CA firearm supporter), etc

I have bought from them a few times, actually have ammo en route to me as i type.

Are you sure you HAVE to shoot in a sanctioned CMP match at least once a year? I know having or getting your or a marksmanship certificate is one way to become a CMP member (so to speak) but I don't think you have to shoot in a CMP sanctioned match once a year?

I could be wrong, so, please post link of where it says that? I mean, not everyone can afford to do it once a year every year and can't see them denying you membership (again, so to speak) just because of it?

Again, are you sure about that? I mean, Illinois law requires any firearm I get I have to go through an FFL, except for private sales, right now anyways. And only thing about private sales in Illinois is I and the other person have to exchange info and keep record of the transaction for 10yrs., minimum.... So doesn't or can't it comes down to state law or state regulation? Please, link where it says this?

Positive about that GlockMeister. They'll ship them straight to your door.

You do not have to be in a CMP shoot once a year. There are MANY other things you can do. If you have your Orange Card, or whatever your state calls its Hunter Safety Card, that's all you need.
