I have acquired a nice 1953 issue CZ-52, and absolutely love it.
I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a good deal on an after market threaded barrel, which is installed and has truly improved the accuracy, that along with several hundred rounds of practice!
My question is this: Since I have been shooting it pretty regularly, I have noticed some wear (shiny areas ) appearing underneath the rollers, where it contacts the frame. Is there a thick lube I should be using in that area? I have always just finished the cleaning cycle by dosing he entire gun with CLR, with silicone.
The wear concerns me, considering that it is a re-arsenal (1978) and surely has had many, many rounds run through it.
How do you know the vintage of your CZ52? I have one with all matching parts but don't know how to interpret the ser# or any of the stamps. Do you? Thanks!
If you look on the right side of the frame under the barrel, you will see a number, either 52, 53, 54, or 55. Those are the years the CZ-52 was built. There should also be a tiny pair of crossed swords. That is a military mark of acceptance, I have been told.
Apparently, all of the pistols were originally finished in a gray Parkerized, rather dull finish. Also, supposedly all of the re-arsenalled guns were re-done in a dark blue dipped finish, as mine is. Mine also has a "VOZ 78" just above the trigger on the same side of the frame. that is the year of re-furb, which also included repair or verification that the de-cocker is functional, which mine is.
There are many web sites you can google to get more info.
If you keep it oiled, then it ought to be ok to shoot. I guess if you start seeing stuff cut in to the metal or not normal wear, then it might be time to check things out more seriously.

The rollers is what I was told and read about to pay close atention to ,a flat spot on one side of a roller or both is not good,the rollers will continue to wear flat galling the metal untill it ruines the top half of your pistol because they are not rolling any more,a little shiney I would think to be normal.If you use a dab of Lithium grease and keep it free of grit or sand by cleaning after shooting I see no harm in applying a small dab to that area, I do.
If you can find another threaded barrel for a CZ-52 LKermit, let me know. I've been trying to find one as they were a limited run and hard to find anymore. I have a ported compensator I've been wanting to try to see what kind of difference it would make.
I walked into a gun shop way across town from me for the first time, and asked if they had CZ-52 parts. They lady said, "What kind of parts?" I said, "Any parts." The young man behind the counter then said, "I only have one threaded barrel left." Did my ears perk up or what???
That is the only one I have ever seen, and I didn't bother to negotiate the price!

The slide release is on it's way from gunpartswarehouse.com
The pistol came with stainless firing pin, replacement hardened rollers for the barrel that it shipped with.
I feel "FAIRLY" comfortable saying that, for a genuine CZ52 compensator in stainless as sold by Makarov.com a few years ago, price won't be much of an object.
Please let me know if you have or know of any for sale.
The compensator I picked up was from Makarov.com when they were still selling products. I need to sacrifice a chicken or something so I can stumble across a threaded barrel. I can't even find extended barrels to have someone put a thread on. I'm not sure if the compensator is stainless or not, if so it's parkerized. It's almost the same color as the gun.

Heh, I'll post some pics tomorrow. It's a nice looking gun. It doesn't really matter if it's parkerized. I can get it refinished to match the hard chrome. The original CZ 52's all had that silvery greyish parkerizing on them. It would match those nicely. But since I'm getting the magazine heel plates chromed I could throw in a compensator for a little bit more. Lemme know if you ever want to part with that compensator. Thanks for the reply.
