Went down to CH's spread for a hunt Monday. My first disclaimer: Sorry no pics

By the time we remembered, we were thwarted with battery issues in the camera. Will try harder next go 'round.
I got up at 0430 and hit the road at 0500 for a 0630 show time. It was closer to 0700 by the time I missed my exit then made a wrong turn. CH said his place was really easy to get to. It is, ya just have to be able to follow directions, LOL.
I was greeted at the door by CH and invited in for a cup of hot coffee and some very good biscuits and gravy. Did I say very good?
CH put up the dove dekes and Mr mojo. We assumed the position of dove hunters sitting on a chair and a 5 gallon bucket hunched over waiting for little grey rockets to appear. We had one come in on one of the wires. We figured he would make a good live decoy, so we left him alone. We agreed it was game on if he flew though. Well, long story short, we took a poke at a couple other birds and he gave us the slip. This after a 15 minute stare down. I reckon he wins. We ended up with a few birds. the recent rain gave the little boogers a wide choice of puddles to drink from so they were not too picky about where they flew.
So,
Time for a gun change and the squirell woods. CH's friend Jack showed up to go with us. Jacks a classic old timer, great guy. We took a walk to the squirell timber and chased tree rats for a bit. I admitted to CH that I was not at my best when the leaves are still thick. I just have a hard time finding the little suckers. I would have had a decent shotgun poke or two with CH agreeing. good thing is CH got a tail for the long tail comp.
Back to the house for lunch. Now mind you, I ate very well the night before and had some awesome B&G that morning. CH thawed out some dove breast form a previous hunt and threw some brats in for good measure. I brought a pot of chili too. After a bowl of chili and a brat, I was.you guessed it, full again. I took a few of the dove breast home for later. They were excellent. Gotta thank CH for the garden goodies and jar of home grown beans too
We worked off lunch with a little hand trap throwing. I shot some of his, he shot some of mine. That's always fun. Nice little 20ga BTW CH

CH vaporized a squash with a 1 1/4 oz load of 7.5's. I gave him a heavier load to demonstrate how nice the limbsaver recoil pad is on the 870. After a little more gun talk and such, was time to hit the road.
Glad I made time to go. Cross Hair and his wife & family are good genuine people. it's good to have another friend 90 miles down the road. Look forward to another get together sometime in the future.
