hunting license

does anyone from texas know if a person needs a hunting license to hunt deer on their own land in texas? i cannot find out anywhere and calling the sporting shops they all tell me (of course) YES, and i think because the want to sell me one. i know wild hog hunting is legal without a license on a persons own land, but i want to know about deer. thanks.

Read the rules at Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunting Regs. I think Yes and you need a $40.00 to hunt hogs, your land or not!

Yes, the basic license is $25. If you want to hunt any birds the stamps are $7 ea. for upland and migratory. Hogs require a license but there is no bag limit or season. If there is a predation problem, ie: excess crop damage, contact http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/ for details.

thanks for the replys. i think it sux that a landowner needs a permit or license to hunt and take game on his own land. i can see it necessary to have a license on public lands or other peoples land, but not on my own property.
