The rails are very nice, even though they get hot after a couple mags. You can put all the stuff on there you need to complete the mission. I've also seen a bunch of guys that install every bell and whistle they can find on the internet whether they need it or not. The weight of an unloaded M4 is 6lbs. 7oz. and the sky is the limit when you are adding things. I actually have a guy in my platoon that has an M203 and many many many other things mounted on his M4. He has even bought a mini rail that mounts to the front sight assembly. He didn't know how to effectively operate a couple of the sight systems he has mounted on it until I played around on the internet and sent numerous e-mails. I have weighed it before and it weighs 14lbs. 9oz. It totally amazes me that he's comfortable carrying it around. It looks like something out of a Terminator movie. He just happens to fall into the category of people that believe the more crap you mount on your weapon the better you are. I am really surprised at how good of a shot he is though. I have shot that particular weapon myself and it resembles the feeling of a .50 cal. muzzleloader when you're holding it on a deer for 10 minutes waiting for him to turn so you can get a better shot.
