I've only used the Wolf. In my Yugo, I went through about 500 rounds of CRAP with the Wolf. It absolutely sucked in my SKS. Makes me mad to know everyone else with a Yugo never has a friggin problem with it! Lol I used some mil surp. In it after the Wolf junk. That stuff made it run like a brand new gun! Think it was Yugo stuff too.
First ammo I tried in my Yugo was Wolf Mil-Classic, three boxes, had problems with at least half of the rounds. Switched to Wolf black box, no problems at all.
sean and fox, I think it's been stated before that the reason some rifles have issues with firing mil-surp ammo is due to a firing pin spring which has become weak over time. Replacement is fairly inexpensive and easy to do...may also consider the slam fire alteration at the same time.
Well, I've only fired some Wolf Military Classic hollow points. It functioned perfectly, but doesn't seem to group the best. I have some Yugo surplus on clips, but I have to wait 'till after deer season to range test it. Don't want to scare away next months dinner. I'm hoping my M59/66 will like the Yugo ammo better. I'll also be working on some reloads later.
Let's hope that very little of the total Russian was manufactured at Ulyanovsk. There are now boxes imported with this name on them, according to "SKSboards", "Ammo".
Did anybody else hear/read about the serious fire and explosions at the (only one of?) Ulyanovsk plant two days ago?
Some of the staff made it into a bomb shelter.
