I find the Weekly Standard to be a right-of-center magazine. It contains no advertising at all, which means they aren't beholden to anyone and don't have to worry about offending anybody. This in turn means they can step on anyone's toes and gore anyone's oxen with impunity - and they do.
For instance, in the latest issue there is an article titled, "Obama the Weak: The perils of a sycophantic administration," that is uncomplimentary to Obama's lack of leadership in all areas and seriously disses him for surrounding himself with yes-men instead of people who will create healthy debate. There is another one called "The Town Halls of August," which tells why the leftists are so scared of the town meetings which mostly have a conservative bent; and why the mainstream media and administration spokescritters are doing their damnedest to demonize the people who are objecting to their plans - using the same tactics the leftists applied to public meetings back when Bush was President and the Republican controlled both houses of Congress the way the Democrats do now with Obama in the White House. There is also a short column on how Obama is attempting to use the National Endowment for the Arts to advance his agenda.
In short, it's a magazine that tells the truths the current administration in Washington finds inconvenient, that they would prefer the People not to know. It's a magazine for our kind of people, folks who like to do their own thinking. You might want to find a copy at your local newsstand and check it out.
