Results 100ATR .308WIN

After reading the old threads on the ATR,I got ,well....alittle scared
Problems problems problems. So early this morning I headed to the range
with my hand loads that were made for another rifle.(Remington 700 LVS)
1st, I knew I was going to do my best to Break it in the right way
Fired 1 round FMJBT 150 gr over 44.7 gr of Reloader 15. at 50 yards.
It hit 5 in high 3 in left .pulled the bolt.. 1 pass brush ,1 pass patch.
Fired again and hit touchin the first shot. so far so good.
Pulled bolt.. cleaned ,and so on and so forth till I had fired 10 rounds.
Let me tell you guys this is one of the best shootin rifles I have ever pulled the trigger on. Hot ..cooled ...fast... slow And the trigger OMG it is sweet!!! One half pound ..it cant be any more than that..and crisp too.
This rifle is a shooter no feed problems at all ...zero.
After shootin Nosler BTBT's ..same powder, same charge ,same results!
I was covering 5 shot groups with a 25 cent piece. After each 5 shots I repeated the cleaning .until I had fired 20 rounds .then 10 rounds between cleaning.
And it only got better ...now on to the Hornaday SST BT.
WOW! Now these bullets needed to be set deeper to chamber, and I usually like to seat them as long as possible .Same powder same charge
More PUNCH you would of thought I put 2 more grains in it.BANG BANG
I know my pressures were still o.k. but it was, lets just say on the HOT side.
THE ATR loved it 5 shots 1 ragged hole
Stick a fork in me I am done .
LONG LIVE THE ATR .....In .308

Shooting groups at 50 yds won't tell you much at all except that the gun goes bang. Try it at 100 yds for multiple groups and tell us what you get. Only then can you get a real measure of a guns accuracy.

Even at 100 yards it will be a keeper. I'm delighted to hear your report. Now keep breaking in the barrel if your not finished...But it appears it don't need breaking in.

If you would do like dmsbandit said, shoot 100 yards next time and be sure to tell us please.

Thank's A.H

I forgot to tell you all after the first ten shots I moved to 100 yards.
The next twenty rounds and testing of The different bullets was conducted at 100 yrds
My last 5 shots were all at 225 yrds where there is a 8 inch steel gong.
5 shots 5 hits

Yep my .308 ATR shoots awesome too. It is the pre LBA trigger, but man is accurate. First gun I could ever touch holes at 100 yards. Never had a feed problem either and I have only shot Federal (blue box) and Fusions.
