Looking at a Kel-Tec P-9

I'm looking to buy a Kel-Tec P-9 (9mm) from a friend that's slightly used but in VG condition for $250. Anyone have any input on these guns? They seem fairly inexpensive -- are they any good for a CC piece?

Appreciate any comments or experience with these.

I am looking at getting either the P-11, or a PS-9 I cannot decide. What I can say is that every one I know who has a Kal-Tec says that they are the best damn littel guns they ever had, and they have a lifetime warrentee, cutormer service is legendary. What I have herd word of mouth is that they are very good. What goes wrong is quickly fixed without any hassel.

They work very well, both the pf-9 and the p11. The pf-9 is much more carry friendly. The customer service is the best there is, period. blue

I just posted some info on the KelTec PF9 in AZGuy's thread...but I'll post it here too.

I have a KelTec PF9 and I carry it all the time either in a IWB or in an ankle holster. It's a great little gun, but the long trigger pull (by some people's standards) takes some getting used to. Contrary to popular conception, it does not have a "heavy" trigger pull, just a looooonnnnng one.

The KelTec PF9 is the smallest, lightest, thinnest 9mm available. Moving up to the P11 (double-stack), you get into the same size range as the Kahr 9mm offerings.

Be cautious if you look on the used market for a KelTec PF9 though. Some of the earlier versions had some feeding problems, especially with hollow point rounds. If you want more information about them than you can read in one day, go to KTOG Forum - Index and check it out. There is no end of info on there.

Oh, and KelTec's customer service and warranty work are very good.

Make sure it is a PS-9 and not a P-11. $250.00 for a PS-9 is a great price, they retail for over $340.00, the P-11's I have seen all sell for about $265.00 new. I am shopping for one myself.

The PF-9 retails for around $250.00 here in Las Vegas if you can find them. I am going to check a few more gun shops today and if one is at any of them it's going home with me.

Pat my coworker bought one I think last month from Discount Firearms for $280ish OTD. $250 asking price, tax, and background check. They are hard to find for sure. I was the one who told him about it and the sucker was lucky enough to call around and find one. I continue to look though.

I have a p-9, bought new for $225. I love that pistol and carry it in a IWB holster. It's a great piece of equipment and therefore have had no need to contact Kel-Tec, but others here say their service is fantastic also! If this is the firearm you want, you will have made a good choice.

Thanks for all the comments, and clarification that it's a PF-9 and not a P-9. From what I am hearing from all of you (nothing negative), it's appears to be a pretty good carry gun. Anyway, I bought it for $250 and I'll try it out this weekend!

Thanks for all your input!!!!

If you are the original owner. The lifetime warranty does not transfer to a new owner. At least that is what I was told by Kel-Tec

For sure on the warrentee? I had always been told that Kel-Tec's biggest selling point was there outstanding customer service. Maby I am confusing Kel-Tec with Hi-Point. I was at the local gun shop the other day and they have the PF-9 in stock and it is on sale $299.00 down from $333.00. The sale price was a littel less than the price I saw on one at the gun show. I think I will just go ahead and get it, get it out of my system, the sale ends at the end of the month.
