I'm inclined to the Mossberg 500 Persuader rather than the Remington 870 for just one reason: the Mossberg's safety. It's much easier to manipulate than the 870's; there is no question whether it is on or off and you don't have to look at it to be sure.

That said, I'd give some thought to loading it with those half-length shells that are coming back on the market. You aren't going to be making 100 yard shots with your 12 gauge in a SHTF scenario on the way out of the city; most places, you'd be hard put to find 100 clear yards to shoot in. Using these demi-shells effectively doubles your magazine capacity for close-in work without sacrificing hitting power at those short ranges. Test them first, of course, because some shotguns don't like them. But if they'll work reliably in your shotgun, I'd go with them for an initial load-out to get you on your way out of town.

My 870 won't feed the minis. Iv'e heard that the Winchester 1300 does a decent job. Not sure about the mossy.

While my first choice would probably be either of the shotguns, I would also recommend the SKS, I have a Winchester 1200, AND an SKS and I'm in the process of getting my fiance to be more adept with ALL my guns so in the event the need arises she can fire anything in my small (but effective) arsenal.

Howard Hill did some archery work on the "Robin Hood" movie starring Erroll Flynn. The Burt Reynolds movie Deliverance featured Reynolds shooting a Bear recurve. The Dukes of Hazzard also featured archery on their weekly TV show in the 1970's. I can also remember the buzz about archery that the movie "RAMBO: First Blood II" created. My father was a Hoyt dealer and we sold over 600 Hoyt bows that year. We even hung a Hoyt Rambo in the lobby of the local movie theater along with an Addington's sign. A few years ago one of the Charlie's Angels movies featured archery.

If you can even find an SKS for $300 (rare) Get that. Better range than a 12gauge and ammo is lighter (you can carry more of it).

30 round clip -no shortage of ammo
and bauyonet -If you run out if ammo,you still have a knife and club to use !!

haha, buddy becareful, i let my wife shot my AR and guess what, i had to go buy another rifle cause she said the AR is hers now... sigh... womengotta love 'em!

Im starting to think either a saiga in 12guage, or a mossberg persuader in 12guage is gonna be my choice. I don't need to shoot over 100 yards, as this will be a defensive weapon. And if I need to shoot over 100 yards, i have multiple rifles at the house.

Since you already have an 870, get a tube extender, as you can remove it if you don't need it later, and get a Knoxx recoil reducing stock with pistol grip. If you're getting out of a city, you really aren't swinging the shotgun on birds, the stock makes quick follow up shots easy, especially with buck/slugs, and you can use the leftover money for ammo.

i will say this. in an urban environment, a military-style rifle would be better. out in the sticks, you might go for a good .22lr rifle. Marlin's 70P and 70PSS are nice, and you can take the barrel off for easier transport. I bought a used .22lr Marlin 70P like 3 years ago for $80. I actually bought it for a friend of mine. Then, he never used it and gave it back to me about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It is a good quality rifle, ammo is cheap and light. It has nice iron sites, and can support a good scope. It is pretty nice:

I like the Saiga .308, last year my friend got his for around $400. I have seen some CETME's for $450 and up. Either one might be out there, where someone is trying to "get rid" of theirs. The .308 {7.62 x 51} is pretty awesome. GOOD Luck...

u should get 2 mosins and alot of ammo. 1 91/30 for long range and1 m44 for closrange so u can use the bayo.
