Is Nathan's Hot Dogs really the best?

I go into my local Sam's Club and for a $1.70 get a dog and drink....it's really good. I go to the store and buy a pack...and they don't seem like the same dogs.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

What about at the store on Coney Island? Are they different? I want to go and sit down and eat about 2 of them with a cold root beer to report back!

they are good thats for sure... they lose something though when bought in a package and cooked at home verses gettin one from a fair or from the source...

they gotta set in hot water cooker, in which the dog water has never been changed. thats the only way to cook one. nothing like it.

I like Hebrew National better. Nathan's has a little too much garlic for me. If you can find them up there try Lee Premium Weiners. D.L. LEE & SONS They are a good clean(no mystery meat) southern style pork weiner.

We had Nathan's today for lunch (store bought pack). I boil them in beer ( PBR) than throw them on the grill for a minute, that makes for a good dog, but you have to have the Kraut, tomatoes, mustard and a dill slice on top.

It is of my personal opinion that it is a sin to put ketchup on a hot dog.

Boil the water, turn off the heat, put dogs in water, wait 10-15 minutes, eat dogs on bun the way you like them. Always put condiments on the dog not the bun.

If you can find them the dogs in a 3 or 5 pound box are better than the 1 pound package.

Locally, Dietz and Watson and Thumans packaged dogs under a Black Forest label as natural casing, taste as close to real ball park dogs as any I have tried. Nothing really beats a Nathans dog at a nathans stand on a boardwalk, nor porkroll from a Taylors stand.

True Grit......Nah... "It is of my personal opinion that it is a sin to put ketchup on a hot dog." It's offered at Nathans, if I can't get chili or kraut then I put ketchup, mustard, onion and relish on mine.

Chris, it's the way they cooked them at Sam's club that makes them taste as good as they do.

If you can find a kitchen sized one, and they are out there, the best way is one of the roller ovens...

I have always liked the Ambassador hotdogs. They aren't cheap, but are hard to beat.

roll the dog in flour, then into a beer batter. Then deep fry until batter is browned. Sheer Ecstacy !!

Frank is from franfurter sausage, the original. First sold at the worlds fair !!

To me the store bought Nathans are not that good and I don't like the texture of the Hebrew Nation's either.

I use to like Oscar Mayer Beef Hot Dogs until they changed them to a beefier one and called it Premeium Beef !!!
I guess they quit putting lips and tail meat in them...I don't no.

There is one I like thats a close 2nd. to the former Oscar Mayer Beef Hot Dog and that be those Big BEEF Ball Park Franks...Why they call them Frank ???

I ate 4 for lupper yesterday...I normaly only eat two, but they was Yummy good !...A.H

When i was working in Pittsburgh I ate at Peppi's Smithfield street one block from the bridge, they would not tell me the name brand of the dogs that they purchased. But they had fried onions, dark mustard, clausen's dill slicked kosher pickle on a half toasted brat bun that they fried right on the flat stainless steel grill. They where huge. You could get em any way you liked, but this was my favorite. They also served a stack of pushed potatoes that were deep fried. Barely could you eat everything and drink your soda.... I have found nothing that was as good anywhere up here in the country. Most hotdogs here are water logged and ya taste em fer many hours afterwards...Yuck....
Never tasted a Nathan dog but i will go look for some.......
