Robert Duvall has made some great Westerns. He was great with Kevin Costner in Open Range.

The original Lonesome Dove. The best western made in contemporary history (1988). I have it on disk, but I haven't watched it since I had it on video. The unauthorized "Return to Lonesome Dove" was a real dog of revisionist dribble. It doesn't compare. If you have not seen the first Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall, Robert Urich, Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover and Frederic Forrest, then you are in for the modern epic of all westerns.
