no death threats allowed.
having it in the same section as members health updates and pics of kids birthdays etc.
just seems ill advised.

Thanks for the reply Arkansas Hunter. By scare I meant that sometimes the media tends to blow everything out of proportion. On the program it showed crossbreeds attacking a cameraman, goring dogs, and every chance portraying these animals as evil and sinister. They were saying that the pigs were so prolific that even hunting them could not manage the population explosion. My personal experience with Russian boars on a feral pig hunt was not that way. I came up on one in a bush unexpectedly and instead of charging me, it ran away from me. I know they can be dangerous but I guess I got lucky. It was less than 10ft. away from me when it bolted. I finally did get my feral hog from 20 yds. with my Smith & Wesson Model 29. Dropped it like a rock with one shot behind the ear. Anyway just wanted to see if there was creedence to the program or if it was a media hype. Thanks again for the info. |

As far as I am concerned this forum (The Powder Keg) is no better nor worse than the attitude/behavior of those posting on it.
Certainly politics/religion are subjects that are sensitive to us,but if we behaved in a rational, civilized manner, used a bit of decorum, and didn't go ape every time someone did not agree with us it just might be possible to have those discussions on the powder keg.
However, past experiance shows that this is not possible,soooooooo....
I will consider this the egg box instead of the powder keg and tread as lightly as possible so as not to break any shells.
Gently now,gently....

The problem I've always saw was the name calling and just talking to each other like they were idiots. A difference in oppinion does NOT make a person an idiot. Misinformation and assumption CAN though. With that being said, there are nicer ways of saying a person is wrong than name calling. Kids do that alot. I guess some people don't wanna grow up?

| It just dawned on me that I've been here a year and never entered into a casual conversation. Thanks Chris for an excellent site. I have never sent you a PM before, but I'm thanking you now before all present while we’re all on the parade deck. I try to be of what technical and historical help I can be when it comes to M1 Garands, '03 rifles, 1911s, and other World War II weapons since those are what I have the most of. I also try to lend my past years of operational and legal training in the use of force, and I'll admit that I like to stand up for our Constitutional rights and sometimes things get a little tense, but I think I have stayed professional and managed to stick to the facts in a debate while still acknowledging the factual parts of another member's argument. None of that would have been possible without Chris and this well formulated medium. I have spoken to Brother Bob via PM and on the forum. He appears to be a good hearted man who shares our love of shooting, collecting, and for some of us, hunting and fishing. He is also a veteran of honorable service and good all around citizen. I hope all is well with him and his family. I will say it now; I do miss his wit, humor and expertise.

Billy may have hit on the solution. A "Billy's Place" forum for postings of a more personal nature, and the powder keg where people can mouth off.

AH and DaMac...I believe you've someway made your last replies in this thread by mistake. Am I correct? If so, just let me know and I'll be glad to move it whereever you intended for it to be.
