Thumbs up Let's work together to improve G&G

I am making an appeal to all members who enjoy this site to let Chris, the site owner, know why you find gunandgame.com an enjoyable place to visit. Many of you know that this site is paid for 100% by Chris, other than the few contributions some members have made.

This site is not a "for profit" venture...it is here because the owner chooses to operate this site for the benefit of others who enjoy many of the forums that are available. We must not forget we are all "visitor's" here and should behave accordingly.

The owner has other concerns, in addition to operating G&G, which also add stress and require his attention, too. There is not enough time to step into the arguments of members that occur occasionally...which could be prevented if all members behaved in a mature and responsible manner for guest in someone else's home.

Forum guidelines have been posted...but for some members, those seem to be ignored too often. This results in tempers rising among various members who take offense with another's post(s). By far and away the majority of G&G members do follow forum guidelines, and do act like they appreciate that this site is available.

But...when only a few make posts which flame others, which are racist, which results in deragoratory names being called out directed at others here, etc., it makes no sense to allow them to "spoil" this site for their individual indescretionate actions.

Not to be too negative sounding, I have personally enjoy meeting many of the members here, reading their posts about their interests and hobbies, learning about their concerns, and just being able to communicate with others whom I share a common interest...guns...and game.

I would hope we can all move forward, turn over a new leaf...and help build this site up to the best of it's possiblities.

Well said Oxford!

This site is a great diversion for me, I have made many friends here and even got to hang out and do some shooting with Jerry another member here. I have learned a great deal about many of the firearms I currently own by browsing through the extensive knowledge compiled here as well as had my interest peaked in some new firearms I now wish to get (like I need an excuse for that LOL). Our state section keeps us IL boys aware of gun right marches, current events and gun shows. I am getting into reloading now and pestering all the right members that are more than willing to help me out.

This site is great! I'm not what you would call a web surfer by any means, but try to check in here as much as possible for the latest scoop, jokes, hunting stories, recipes, and to chat with some great folks! This site reminds me of a bunch of guys I would love to meet at the local diner and share some breakfast and tall tales with after hunting or shooting!

I encourage everyone to support the site

Mike

Count me in Oxford I need at attitude adjustment. I got mad when I lost 2 friends here for being banned.

I even said somethings in a post I wished I had'nt said. Sometimes you take things for granted when you never should.

I even joined two other Gun Forums to get away from here but nither one is like Gun and Game.

Sometimes we don't appreciate what we got here and with that said I'm going to do my best and appreciate this wonderful site and strive to be one it's best members.

It's unbelieveable that there are so many many good people here that we are like a family

And you know what ??? It can't get any better than that...A.H

Let us not forget it has come quite a ways in a relatively short span of time.

a.h. you are such a nice guy, does everyone like you? when did u have a cross word with anyone? ( i don't mean puzzle)

sry for the diversion, people on the gun side have been really helpful to me, i can't say enough good things about the members.
i too joined, two other sites, but only because i find the powder keg so boring now, no rebuttals, mostly the poorly informed running amok agreeing with each other.
just the way i feel, a private site can make it's own rules.
i am a free person to get my powder keg fix elsewhere.

Oxford, As much as I agree with most of your thread, I do have a comment to make regarding the portion of the thread highlighted in "red". Some time ago, Chris let all of us know that if we ever had any issues regarding problems on the forum that all we had to do was PM him. It appears that he is too busy to answer them, thus resulting in problems.

The statement about members behaving in a mature and responsible manner should also apply to moderators. This site has a few "over zealous" mods that "shoot first and ask questions later". This may be considered flaming mods, but if mods are going to get into the middle of discussions and voice an opinion rather than moderate and also usurp another moderator in front of their peers, which I believe to be highly unprofessional, what are we to think?

Another issue I am constantly accused of being my husband (Brother Bob) when I choose to post on the site. I don't visit as often as most, but occasionally I do have something to say. Bob and I have made many friends on the forum and since he is unable to get on the site, I have taken over trying to keep in touch with them when I can.

Another issue I feel should be addressed is that the rules and regulations are not administered/applied fairly across the board. Too much favoritism here lately. This has been noticed by other on the forum also. You have some folks that are quite literally afraid to post anymore and have quit frequenting the site.

If Chris' intention is to grow this forum, then these issues need to be addressed/corrected.

I agree. And I usually keep quiet about this kind of childish behavior.

I know people that don't like me now...But it's my fault. For getting involved but it's hard not to when there is or was so much Brotherly Love here. To some here it is like a 2nd. family and family's have spats some time...A.H

The only thing I notice is when something happens, i.e. someone gets banned, etc. the rest of us only hear one side of it. There is not a post as to why some threads get closed or why someone is gone and for how long. I think that leads to a bunch of conclusions being jumped to by out-of-the-loop members. Then we get to see the threads of "Where is ???", which then gets closed. There are times I can't get on here as much as I'd like to, especially in the evenings, and a lot of times I have no clue as to what's going on and why. I understand the rules, I see the rules getting broke and the consequences of such, but sometimes I don't see the logic in some of the decisions or the harshness of some of the decisions. But, it's not my forum, just my 2 cents.

I think the thing I enjoy most about the site is really the exchange of ideas and information on guns and hunting. I've also made some friends on the site; hopefully I can post more in the coming weeks.

You can’t help but too learn something new on this site practically everyday, so many knowledgeable members that post here daily. If you are thinking about buying something, start and thread and get a review of the item from actual owners.

There's also some funny humor scattered throughout the Threads. I cant remember the title of the thread, but Tex, Paper and Left hand shooter and others provided some really good comedy about a recent shooting match that Tex and Paper attended. The match was really interesting, but all the one-liners provided by the posters kept me checking on thread. This is just one example of many of I've read.

I really think Chris is doing a great job, I just hope he doesn’t burn himself out. I think it’s really up to the membership too work out our problems and watch we post.

I think the Moderators have done a good job also, I don’t imagine its an easy one.

Sometimes when you post it looks better in the preview box, than it does in the thread.

the only thing that i dont like about this place is the politics.
all it does is cause fights.
for the fun of it i just did a search for U.S. political forums.
i got 509,000,000 hits.
yeah
there are over 1/2 BILLION sites to argue on.
why pollute this one?

There has been alot of good stuff posted in this thread. Chris is doing a good job and I thank him for keeping this thing going.
Mrs Bro Bob and Bunny you 2 have said alot and I agree with all of it. The biggest one being that for most of us who dont read every post it would be nice to know who said what so that the rest of us dont run into the same problems.
Maybe we should get rid of the political stuff?
