This country is probibly the most prepaired for any contingincy than any other. I thought I was "out there" in my contingency planning, until I saw what others were doing. The fact that we can discuss and make arrangements goes a long way to demonstrate our colective readiness factor. New Oleans aside, my guess is that 80% of thoes states west of the Missippi will do ok.

Wink

Check the national map - blue states and big metropolitan areas will be in deep kimchi! Red states and rural areas will fare better.

Once the 'organic fertilizer' is in the ground awile, next year's crops should do real well........

For those who have the means to pay off their debts, now, and still prepare for the hard times, it will be of great benefit to them. Debt is a cruel master in hard economic times. Being in debt narrows one's choices.

For someone who is in debt, with no quick way out, accruing a bit more debt to prepare for the coming hard times, may be a viable choice.

It is a tough choice to make.

We sold our house, paid off ALL our debts, moved into a rental house, built up our preparedness, and are keeping our lifestyle simple and as inexpensive as possible. We plan on being in this situation another 3-5 years, based on the current forecasts from the economic pundits outside of gubmint control.

History gives the best lessons. Trust in the 5 Gs: God, Guns, Groceries, Gas, and Gold. These have been the tried and true preparations for the last century, during tough economic times.
