I just traded for a Knight inline from my brother. I have shot it before (he's owned it about 4 years) and while it shoots OK, it isn't the most consistent grouper. I think the problem is the Pyrodex pellets (we use 100 grs) in the shortish barrel (around 22" maybe 24"). I shot it at a cardboard box from about 10 feet once, and noticed what I think was a chunk or two of the pyro pellet. I don't think the short barrel is burning all the pellets, leading to the inconsistency.
My question is, I am going to try loose Pyro or Triple7 in it to see how it performs. I am using 245gr Powerbelt bullets. I have never used loose powder before and was wondering at what grainage I should start with to insure complete burn of the powder. 80grs?
This ML will be for my wife, I'll stay with my CVA, it is scoped and she won't be shooting past 120 yards or so max. Recoil is not a problem for her, just want a accurate load.

With projectiles from 300gr on up start with 70gr. With bullets from 185gr and up to 300gr start with 80gr.Usually accuracy is best at 80/90gr with heavies and 90/100gr with lighter ones. ,,,sam.
We all care.Other members are everything.Some others will get on I believe and tell their side.Loose powder is a little more potent by volumn grains than pellet equivelent. ,,,sam.
That does use the 209 primers, right? If so I'd move right over to 100 grains of the new Blackhorn 209 powder. I feel those Pyrodex pellets can be iffy even in a longer barrel.
my knight DISC rifle seems to shoot best with 86gr of loose T-7, or 92gr of loose pyrodex RS. I don't shoot the pellets.
these loads were developed with TC sabots, 230gr IIRC

My T/C System One, 50 cal with 209 primer kit, will shoot 2" 100 yard groups with 110 grains of loose Pyrodex RS and 1.5" with 100 grains of the same. These are 3 shot bench rest groups using 240 grain sabots and the scope set at 9x. My T/C side hammer guns all like 80 -90 grains and I get 2" 50 yard groups with the open sights.
