Does anyone know much about 50's chevy trucks. I am looking at one very seriously and would like some feedback I have talked to a fe people I kno that are good with older cars and the say it's a steal if I got the cash and I do. The truck i am looking at is a 1956 Chevy stepside with a newer 350 turbo engine, 400 tranny, corvet suspension, posi rear end and the body looks about 90% it is very clean. The guy is asking 5k for it. I am thinking really hard about this one. If I buy it and it ends up not being my thing I think I can turn it around for 8 or 9k.
I'm guessing one of two things. The guy is hurting for cash or the fact that where he lives is out of theyway for most people to drive out and look at it.
Though that model chevy is hard to find I think I'd keep my money in the bank in case times get worst right now.
It does look nice and temping though. You may be well off and have a good job with some money in the bank.
But whats it worth if you were to wreck it ?
If it's not going to hurt, and if you will enjoy it, go for it. You only live once and will not look that good driving that thing when you are 95 yrs. old.

My jobs not goin anywhere for four more years. I need something to drive to work. I only live 15 minutes from work so I'll be driving it and not just sticking it in the garage. We have a reliable family car so I'm not too worried.
The great thing about buying a collector that someone else restored and modified is that you pick it up for a lot less than what they have in it. The down side is that you never know what surprises are hidden under the paint so to speak.
If you love tinkering with old trucks then buy it and have fun!
