Big article about the rise in gun purchases and ammo shortage, seems Remington added a 4th shift and running 24/7 on production of ammo and unable to catch up.I am seeing more ammo in the local gunshop today but might not be there come week end, prices have droped there on 22LR ammo and saw Win.,Rem.,Federal and Aguila last two being the better price.Usually swing by the primers and bullets to check prices, there was a guy takeing inventory on bullets and had the isle blocked.Maybe things are getting better, bought scope mounts and had them put on and a better scope I had and was in a hurry to get home .I think the Media was trying to stir people up with the coment about guns are just paperweights without ammo.
I think most of it is going to the war effort/military. Then next in line is all of the Federal agencies. Then next in line is all the state agencies and then of course your county and then local P.D's.. We civilians get what's left and that's usually very little...

There is still little .22 ammo for sale in this area.As for guns being paper weights without ammo, buy one of those cheap Moisin Nagants with a toad sticker bayonet. It'll keep em at a distance.

The shortage is easing a little. Most places around me have at least some ammo in stock in .40 and .45. I don't own a 9mm, so I don't really look for that, But things seem to be getting better. But the funny thing is, I've got primers now so I don't really need it. I did have to refresh some brass last week and picked up some .40, But it was at the fair(ish) price of 99.99 per 250. Wish I would have waited as I saw Blazer Brass for 15.99 per 50 (tons of it) , and I perfer that brass to UMC for reloading.
Rifle and shotgun seem to normal around here. I shoot at least 200 shotgun rounds per week and haven't had any trouble finding shotgun primers or other componets. I think ATK and Remington have been making more of that for the upcoming seasons instead of pistol ammo.
From Jan. to May there were 6.1 million background checks for guns, that was an increase of 25.6% from the same period a year ago.And it was about who was going to be President, also they stated there would be an increase in Military personel in Afghanistan,Biden is calling for a decrease, but that is just talk he likes to say something every now and then even if it dont make sence. But for real there was a rush to get and packrat and things are starting to settle down and ammo companies dont want their golden goose to get away, meaning to justify higher prices even though things are slowing down. The whole story might be to boost more sales the more I think about it.
just bought some at a farm store for $12.50 (personal proection) i only bought 1 box because i reload -and wanted to leave some for the next guy.if you start hording it nobody will have any- just my opinion.
