I took the wife out real early this am to a unsupervised range north of Troy, MO. We shot some guns.
Shot my new P345 Ruger 45 Auto for first time. It was rainy and crappy up there so we had to make it short.
P345 off hand at 25yds, hit consistently 5" group with soda can bottom for aim point. Just wanted to make sure it ran when bugger hook hit bang switch.. No target to show.
Got wife interested in my Bersa 380 that I want her to use (CCW?) She enjoyed it very much, and shot accurately too. Said it is user friendly....LOL
Again no target, bottles are fun and move too when hit.
Put out some tin cans @ 25yds and she shot them w/22 rifle and swore she could hit them, but they never moved.
When we picked up to leave, she went down to pickup targets and came back smiling. Held up the cans and they were full of holes LOL. Thin skinned cans i guess.
Then on the way home she asked if we could maybe do this every other weekend!!! Ding, Ding, Ding!!!
I said "Of Course!" of course.
Now I need to name the P345, dont like to do that until after I know how good she runs. Darn accurate for a semi auto.
Ammo used was 230gr WWB in 45, didnt have to change sight, hit at point of aim, and Fed bonus pac in 22lr. 22 didnt like Fed, kept jamming and not feeding or ejecting properly. Digests Win Super X without fail. Wonder if Fed was a bad run or looser tolerances, seemed tight in chamber, bought since Obama scare, at Wallyworld.
Just a heads up on the 45 and hope to do targets later on.

I've had problems with the Federal 22LR. Lots of duds. I miss my old P95. I needs me another one, but the stupid PRK makes buying handguns uber difficult.
My experiences with the P345 have been nothing but positive, it has fed everything, including my handloads, and shoots more than adequately for self defense purposes.
I give it two thumbs up.

I have some problems with the Federal bulk pack in my 10/22, but it works just fine in the 22/45. I think the bullets are not slippery enough or something.
Name the 345 after your wife. She'd probably like the idea and might come shooting more often.

I have a P97 and my son just bought a P90.Both were Ruger program guns and were new unfired with the original box, papers and all.Our local gun shop gets a first crack at these guns when Ruger is done with them. They both shoot very well and will eat any ammo with no problems. Enjoy the new.45 ALR. Pat

I am quite happy with my P345. The only problem I've had was with Blazer Brass. It did not like them at all. It kept failing to go fully into battery. Everything else I've used worked great.
Congrats on the Ruger and getting your Wife interested in shooting more often.
ALR,
How about just starting a new thread ; Name my P345 ??????
I'll start you off ----"HITTER"
Im thinking of "Boanerges".
Translated means "Sons of Thunder"
Though it isnt feminine, idk.
Im sure Id get some real winners with a "Name My...." thread! LOL!!!
Remember, Dont waste a **** **!! ROLF!

>Ducky, my favorite cowboy movie star came from Duck Run Indiana.
>Boanerges, Sons of thunder.

I have a KP345 myself and have fired roughly 5000 rounds of every brand ammo I could find just to make it jam or have any issue with the end result of none. I am very satisfied with mine. It's comfortable to handle, the wife doesn't like it much, she likes bigger doublestacks.
