You will ge many different opinions. Just because its on the CMP forum doesnt mean its gospel. There are alot of guys that just repeat what they have heard not what they know
Gus Fisher is a retired USMC armorer and services rifles for the National Match competitions at Cam Perry. When he talks I listen

Gus Fisher is a retired USMC armorer and services rifles for the National Match competitions at Cam Perry. When he talks I listen | So do I.I take nothing on any internet sight as gospel.I don't even take what I say as gospel.Mr.Fisher seldom posts on any sight which is a shame. He has a vast knowledge base on these rifles and other subjects. It's too bad some sight didn't have an informational no response allowed column for him to relate on various M1 subjects but I understand his work load pretty much precludes that. The CMP forum was used to illustrate what various people have to say on the subject at hand because it was easiest to do a search on not out of favoritism or correctness of replies. When I require information on a subject,I research who are known experts in the field, find out if a book is available, buy the book. That way you avoid all this bullsh*t on these forums.I was able to find information I sought long before there were PCs.I'll do so after this one pukes. It was a gift, otherwise I wouldn't own one. |

Anybody ever get a 'special grade'? I notice they're a little more expensive, but a new barrel and new stock sounds like a winner to me.

My CMP gauge came in today, muzzle gauge that is, and it swallowed it up to what would be the bottleneck. And had that not been there, it would have kept going. Then in testing the throat erosion, it gauged 6-7, can't remember and too bummed to recheck it. lol
So now the search for a barrel and the hope I can find a good one at a decent price and that I have the cash when I find it. lol
Mighty nice looking though. Congrats.

Yea, I see they sell them. I thought they were $179.95? But I'm not a member and not sure I want to deal with that?
They're out there. Just depends on what I have and or want to spend...

Have you shot it yet?
Forget the gauge, sometimes barrels with high wer reding shoot real well.
Shoot it first then make your decision
