I carry a 681 S&W .357 and a taser. AM 6'2" 240.
I dont carw what anyone else says. If you have to use your carry you want to stop the other guy fast. Use a .357 and you will.

I agree Capt'n, my .357 is my goto gun. You can also load it up with .38 specials.
2nd on my list is my Colt Combat Commander .45 .
You really need to make a list of choices and try them out. In the end its your call, what you feel good with and fits you well.
If revolver is your preference, my suggestion is a Ruger or a S&W, 4" barrel in .357.
If semi-auto is your preference, my suggestion is Glock model 23 in .40S&W, Springfield XD in .40S&W or .45acp, a S&W M&P again in .40S&W or .45acp and lastly a good ole reliable 1911 .45acp!

I'm 6'3" 250 and love my Glock 32... but I wouldn't consider my stature to be the principal factor in picking a gun.
I would first consider if you are more comfortable with a revolver or a semi-auto. Then what size weapon you can comfortably conceal... how often will you carry will play a big part in this, as will how you plan to conceal it.
Some guns just feel better to some people than others. I like to carry my Glock, others say it is way too wide for them.
Some people say 9mm is more than adequate for personal defense, others swear by .45. I like the .357 sig round.
In short, there are a ton of variables to consider, and height and weight probably influence firearm choice the least.

Thats a great point.
Another thing is you should always carry the same weapon. I don't agree with the summer/winter gun thing. Should you change, you should practice with that weapon and stay with the new one, not go back and forth

RBNUTS,
you don't say where you live in the USA? I live in Misouri and the weather changes dailey .I can't carry my 1911 wearing shorts and a tee shirt when it's 100 degrees outside . I will carry my 2" snubie for these conditions. but then the next day when it's 50 degrees outside , I will pack up the .45 .
I practice drawing all the guns iI carry as my life may depend on it some day !( Hopefully not). So changing weapons on a regular basis is natural to me . I am always aware of what weapon I carry and where It is at at all times .(My life may depend on it ).I actualyy switch off and on with 4 different guns .Depending on where i'm going and the weather conditions.I believe I am very proficient and familiar with all 4 and feel comfortable carrying any of the 4 .

Oh, I don't live in the USA I live in Northern California (Thats almost a joke). I train with one weapon for off duty. I know that in a stressfull situation muscle memory with proper training will be what causes you to draw point and fire your weapon and hopefully hit your target. Any person who says this is what would happen if someone tried to? Has absolutly no Idea what its like to be in a firefight. I don't want to confuse myself in that type of situation. Thats just the way I feel about it. Not to say it's right or wronge, It's just for me.

Reason: .
i bought a .380 thinking I would use it but ammo is so hard to find. I got a 9mmTaurus pt709 slim. put it in a vynal blackhawk holster and there it stays.
personally i think you should identify which company that makes firearms , makes them in a comfortable feel for you then go from there with the model search.
for instance while i have been required to carry a glock and be proficient i would never carry one ( of their current models) . they just dont feel right for my hand compared to other companies.
im also large enough that i dont carry small , i carry a medium framed XDM and you might consider that too . smaller frames in larger hands are sometimes more awkward on the draw and require more training .
then again you are carrying concealed and you may require that it be totally concealed where my needs dont demand complete secrecy.
One thing I have found for almost sure is stainless is more comfy than blued steel against flesh. So if you'repacking under a T-shirt, and want to be comfortable and not wear a T under your T look at stainless. A good pancake holster will snug most anything up enough that it won't print unless your clothes are tight.
Oh yeah, how it feels in your hand depends on YOUR hand. Some big guys have small mitts, some not. What do hands have in common? They're all the same AND they're all different.
