hello everyone
i live in northern indiana where it is only legal to hunt with a pistol, shotgun, muzzleloader, or bow. i hunt with shotgun and muzzleloader and last year i had to borrow my firends muzzleloader which i didnt like AT ALL(it was an older style CVA that didnt have the inline 209 ignition, so it wasnt reliable, it had a trigger guard that looped back and hurt my pinky everytime i would shoot it, and had a brass buttpad that hurt a lot!). so i have decided to make my own purchase of one. my choices are the mossberg 500 50 cal muzzleloader barrel, which is $100 or the CVA Buckhorn 209 magnum 50 cal from walmart for like $130 or somethin along those lines. they are both 50 cal and 209 ignition so i just need opinions from experienced users on which one to buy. thanks guys!
The buckhorn has a $20 rebate offer and is a good inline gun with powerbelt bullets. I also hunt with a CVA bobcat and like it too for the side hammer action which takes the smaller cap, but I like it because I can watch the hammer with it and has good accuracy with balls and cheap to shoot for my younger son.

A sidelock with percussion cap is very reliable if you know how to use it. Dunno why it would hurt your pinky unless you had your pinky behind it. A curved buttplate doesn't go against your shoulder, it goes against your upper arm. If you put it on your shoulder those points are going to hurt.

the brass trigger gaurd was only long enough up to the curve to hold my index middle and ring finger, the pinky had to go behind it. i just prefer a sporter rubber butt pad opposed to the brass curved plate. i should have been clearer
