Mike,
Nice CZ-82 in 9mm Makarov caliber. While it is in the 9X18 Makarov chambering it has no link to the PM or Pistolet Makarova. There is a ton of stuff on wikipedia about the PM and the CZ-82...

^I was gonna say that. CZ 82 is better than the Mak in my opinion though. Good buy for sure!

You can always have it refinished and I think it's worth it. I have one and I'll never get rid of it. Being Mil-Surp there heavy duty !
We have some members here you might could work out a deal with them to have it blued.
They are Seabee Scotty, S Bowers and Mooseman684 these gentleman are Gun Smiths and members here.

PM one of them and ask, that want cost anything...A.H

It isn't a bad looking pistol. If you want to keep the same finish, you'd need to find something that would match it. I am not sure what it is, but I got rid of all the finish on mine. That black stuff was so badly worn on it, it looked like hell. I was going to reblue it, but after I got it all stripped off, I decided I liked it how it was and polished it up a little. I got it from J&G Here are some pics. Congrats on your CZ. Makarovs are quite nice too. They come apart the same way. Have a mag release on the bottom of the grip, similar to a CZ 52. These CZ 82s are nice carry guns, and the polygonal rifling is a cinch to clean! I love mine.

That's actually the import mark. The coating on the gun chips off when they etched the import mark.

The only groove is the one for the thumb.. Not sure what you're after??

Oh, and they're 12 shot pistols.

Iron_Colonel,

Love the look of the gun metal grey but do you have a protective coating on it? Oiling it continually will be fine but any long or short term storage will result in rusting.

Again, love the look!

Here's my 9x18, it's the FEG PA-63 with the ClipDraw(LOVE the clipdraw). I'm tempted to strip and refinish her; buffing a mirror finish on the titanium/aluminum frame, chroming the slide and trigger guard and putting on nice grips. Maybe someday, just love messing with guns. It's not an expensive piece so it's not like I'm ruining anything and she just might look fantastic, who knows.

I meant thumb rest, duh!. I don't like the "thumb" rest grips. Thanks for the magazine info.

Gotcha.. The thumb rest area isn't really that deep.. Not sure if anyone makes an aftermarket grip set for it, but it seems like there's always someone out there who'll carve up something in wood for most pistols.

If you can find one to try, you'll have to see if you like it or not.. Very accurate little gun, though..

The CZ 82 grip panels are a little bit of a pain where the thumb rest is makes it a bit of a pain to get to the mag release. But, the plus for that, and I prefer this, is that the ambi safety is easier to use with your right index finger than your right thumb. I imagine the same is true vice versa, unless you have big hands.

As far as a finish on it, nothing. Its been outside for a while in a vehicle and its tip top. The recoil in them is a bit snappy, but they are very fun guns to shoot.

If you have'nt held a CZ 82 then your in for a pleasent surprise the grips are great and I don't have any problems getting to the mag release. They are a little hard to conceal and the pistol is a lot heavier than they look I think...A.H

If you like this gun you should try the P-64 Polish in 9x18. I have one and think it is a better built weapon.
