If that guy in the white shirt wasn't there, he'd be dead or badly injured. I sure as heck wouldn't have been laughing, I remember the first time I tossed a live grenade in basic training, that little hunk of bomb is no toy for sure.

These are the type of people we need to STOP saving! Paramedics, please rethink treating individuals like this! I know you took that oath... but come on! If we let them survive their stupidity, they just go on to breed stupid offspring! It's a vicious cycle people!

idiot used his teeth to pull the pin too..... that's what happens when you watch too much t.v. .......

i would be willing to bet he didn't learn all that much from this experience..... stupid is a broad way of thinking, not just an isolated act.........

Can someone explain to me what that first small pop was? I didn't know grenades did that. Perhaps it was a defective grenade? Or, does it actually have a fuse that is lit by a snap primer or what?

Yes they do have a pop to them and a little smoke comes out. They are a timed fuse after all. I remember the first time at the Grenade range. I couldn't believe the concussion that these little things could create. How people live through the blasts are beyond me.

But, I thought the timer came in the form of a chemical timer inside the grenade...This would not be an external fuse, unless it is a grenade I have never heard of.

I believe the 'pop' is the spoon flying off and the striker hitting the primer that takes X many seconds to detonate the bursting charge. But I agree with iflylow74 that A) I'd LOVE to know where Beavis and Butthead managed to lay their hands on a live grenade, and B) that Butthead in the orange shirt nearly qualified for a Darwin Award.

Well, that first pop didn't sound like the striker lever being released. It doesn't normally sound like a .223 round going off.

I'm wondering if this was a faulty grenade, in which case, maybe this wasn't a 'Darwin Award' finalist afterall.

Grenade

Looks like it may have been a pineapple grenade. They had a 5 second delay compared to the M-26 frag we threw in basic. From watching WWII documentarys, I've seen pineapples smoke after spoon released. Lot of stuff brought back from WWII. Could have been his grandfathers or someone. I would like to hear him laugh after a sucking chest wound from a big chunk on steel they put out.

This video has been on the internet for a long time now and I still want to smack the people in it everytime I see it.

I like how he just freezes up like "oh crap I just dropped a live grenade right at my feet I better stand here and stare at it while I think about to do next!!
