Michigan 22lr hunting in South Zone

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows what the laws for hunting with a 22 rimfire rifle in the south (shotgun only) zone in lower michigan. I was told that the "shotgun" only part only applies to hunting during firearm deer season. I was wondering if it is legal to hunt squirrels with a 22 rimfire, NOT during firearm deer season.

Thanks

Yes you can use your .22 in southern Michigan, just not during the 2 week firearm deer season as you thought.....
