Lcp

Hey guys:

I just bought a LCP and was wondering if I am crazy, or did I get a good price- my buddy bought one and didnt like it cause he is too big for it so he shot 50rds through it and sold t to me for $200.00. Not knowing if it is recalled or anything I took a flyer and bought it. The Sn is 372.... is it recalled? Also what do you guys think about the gun? Thanks

Casey

First call Ruger and see if yours is in the recall. You got an excellent deal from your friend to.
What I think about the Ruger LCP is I want one...A.H

Your serial number is not effected. It was the earlier 370 range guns.

If you want a small pocket carry gun, you'll like the LCP. I've only seen a few come back, for 2 reasons.

First, DON'T SHOOT FOREIGN STEEL/LAQUERED/POLYMER-COATED AMMO! Had one from a LE officer totally coated inside with junk from Wolf ammo. wouldn't operate.

Second, be careful when you insert the magazine. You can't "slam" the mag home like a 1911. The mag catch/release is tender and you'll wear this down if your not careful. Then you've got a magazine falling out when you are shooting.

enjoy your new gun!

I would say you got a good deal. I do believe that you can replace the magazine release with an aftermarket metal one and solve the problem of wearing out the plastic one currently installed. The trigger will take some getting used to unless you shoot double action only revolvers.

If it has had the recall done there should be a diamond stamped under the hammer at the back where it is indented. My wifes had the recall done when we bought it and it shoots great. I paid $269 for hers new almost a year ago and it came with two clips (one with the finger extension) and a soft case.

The diamond stamp is only placed on those that fall in the serial number range that was affected by the recall. If it is a later production, suck as the 372- the gun was produced after the recall and will not have the stamp, it was done correctly the first time. I think the the later production guns and those sent in for a recall also had the plastic mag catch replaced with a metal one but I could be mistaken.....it seems like mine (later production) has a metal mag catch. Either way, I always push in the mag release in as I seat the magazine.

Rots a ruck finding it. lol J/K But seriously, the .380 is tough to come by...

and congrats on the purchase. I think you got a good deal. And even though someone said yours wasn't affected, find out and make sure... It can';t hurt that's for sure.

This link should help...And it does appear based on what cold queso and the rest said is correct. But you should always find out for yourself. It's your gun and your safety that will be affected...
