Losing my cable... suggestions please.

Moving the end of this month to a cabin in the country we're currently finishing. Over 8 miles to the closest central office for phone service and WAY too much copper to even consider going with dial-up for Internet.

Spoiled with this 3Mb cable connection for the past few years... and I'm curious if any of you have Wildblue and like or dislike it? Wireless (cell) is an option, but the $50 for 5 Gig max, given all the popups and high resolution video attached to today's email (yahoo), it won't take long to max that 5gig.

Looking for some ideas here, folks. Looking forward to the move EXCEPT for the Internet issue. Thanks.

I agree, check out Hughes Net. I believe you can get both internet as well as Television through the one dish.

I'm facing the same problem myself. I've lived in town for the past couple years and the internet is absolutely amazing.

I had the basic hughes net setup back at my old house in the country and it sucked imo. At least when compared to cable.

I was constantly having to reset it to get things to start working again.

We had the basic hughes net plan. Maybe some of the other plans will be better.

It's crazy. The top of the line hughes net plan is the elite pro 5Mb. IT COST 350 BUCKS A MONTH. Not to mention it is about 1/2 the speed of my basic cable plan i currently have for 40 bucks a month.

Thats sadddd.

I've exchanged email with ex-Hughes-net folks who are selling their equipment on Craiglist. Collectively, they're saying the same thing. I -have- talked now with 2 people who have WildBlue who are very happy with it, and both previously owned Hughes Net. That's probably the direction I'm going to go... but I just wanted to toss it out here in case I was getting ready to make a bad decision. Thanks for the answers guys. Opinions are always welcome.
