22-250 Savage 12fv heavy barrel with a Zeiss 6.5x24x54 Rapid Z-Varmint on top. Turns dogs RED out to 400+ yards no problem.

you can't go wrong with any major manufacturer cause they have all been in business for a very long time for a reason. just buy one that fits your budget and feels comfortable to shoot.

I have question, how do you get a .152 group if you're shooting .224 caliber? Maybe I'm missing something. I guess if you measure center hole to center hole , you could do that. But I measure my groups from outside of hole to outside of far hole, much more accuate ,and that's all I do. Maybe that's why my best group I ever shot was only .821 @ 200 yards with my 22-250. That comes out to .597 I think if you do the math. Hm,that's not too bad..

Don't you measure outside to outside and subtract the size of the round to get your group size. I've never gotten that precise yet.

I guess that's how you do it.. And Sam, no one is arguing, just trying to figure out how different people do different things.

The most common and accepted way is measure center to center and no math.(subtracting bullet dia.)The reason you shouldn't go outside to outside is most holes in targets are undersize,(in other words, not as big as bullet diammeter)giving you a false reading making the outside to outside measurement smaller than it really is or a center to center reading. The size of the hole will vary depending upon the texture of the paper. ,,,sam.

Both methods have their problems. The way I mentioned is flawed as Sam said if not using wad, or semi-wad cutters. Of course you don't use them with rifles. The problem with the way Sam mentions is that human error is possible in determining an absolutely perfect center in both holes.

Whatever method you use if you stay consistent in your ways you will be close enough. You will know if your groups are getting tighter or not. If you are shooting a big competition someone will be scoring it for you and you will be told what it is.

There was no disrespect intended or implied Sam. Sorry if you thought so.

Your method is better.
