Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

okay, maybe I missed something. I watch the news. I didn't see where he did anything special. I didn't see where he ended any war. could someone explain to me WHY???

I guess bowing down to the muslim world did get him something. But, bowing down to the muslim world is like bending over for a bar of soap in prison. the end result will be the same.

WHY is the world kissing his behind while our dollar is turning to toilet paper????

I had a liberal explain it to me earlier this morning. He tried to restart Mideast peace talks and he has talked about doing away with nuclear weapons. I asked her if this is the somewhat obscure Nobel Little-Engine that could prize. I thought in order to win it, you actually had to accomplish SOMETHING. I guess after that farce with Al Gore, we should expect this.

BREAKING NEWS! In a surprise, Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize - Yahoo! News

This is INSANE!!!

This joker was only in office two weeks, before he was nominated!!

What has he done to deserve this?
This is the same clown who just REFUSED to meet with the Dali Lama.

In a surprise, Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

By KARL RITTER and MATT MOORE, Associated Press Writers Karl Ritter And Matt Moore, Associated Press Writers 38 mins ago
OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.
The stunning choice made Obama the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Peace Prize and shocked Nobel observers because Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline. Obama's name had been mentioned in speculation before the award but many Nobel watchers believed it was too early to award the president.
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said. "His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population."
The committee said it attached special importance to Obama's vision of, and work for, a world without nuclear weapons.
"Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play," the committee said.
Theodore Roosevelt won the award in 1906 and Woodrow Wilson won in 1919. Former President Jimmy Carter won the award in 2002, while former Vice President Al Gore shared the 2007 prize with the U.N. panel on climate change.
The Nobel committee received a record 205 nominations for this year's prize.
In his 1895 will, Alfred Nobel stipulated that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses."
Unlike the other Nobel Prizes, which are awarded by Swedish institutions, he said the peace prize should be given out by a five-member committee elected by the Norwegian Parliament. Sweden and Norway were united under the same crown at the time of Nobel's death.
The committee has taken a wide interpretation of Nobel's guidelines, expanding the prize beyond peace mediation to include efforts to combat poverty, disease and climate change.

His rhetoric is very much in line with the thinking of the prize committee. Too bad they abandoned the past practice of basing their decision on actions and not just words. Mother Theresa was much more deserving. She talked little and accomplished a lot in the lines of helping the human condition. This guy is just the opposite. I wonder if they can rescind the decision?

This does not bode well for the 2012 elections. Time to increase the stocking up activity.

Maybe he was sharing his LSD with the committee...

...and that helps to explain why they have a delusion of grandeur for BHO???

This illustrates how I believe BHO and his lackeys will be for us/US...

...we collectively being the one wearing the hat with the magic wand choosing BHO as president, those who choose him.

Well,

kissing up to the President is a great way to get us to fight wars for other people and give them lots and lots of foreign aid while the American middle class suffers from one year to the next.

The Nobel Peace Prize lost its shine for me long ago. Go look at a list of past winners and you'll see a lot who really don't deserve it. Al Gore? Please!!! Jimmy Carter was ticked off that he didn't get it for brokering the deal between the PLO and Israel, like that panned out well. Say what you will about the Shah of Iran and his policies and all but the leaders at that time over there kept things in line. Thank you Mr. Carter for opening Pandora's Box in the Middle East. Wonder if he ever figured it out? Just wishing people should get along doesn't work. It takes at least an entire generation to say enough is enough and stop the nonsense. Never happen. Too many zealots and it doesn't matter what coat they were, a zealot is always bad news. OK, I'm done now.

Propaganda.

The TRULY ironic thing is that hussein (through a brilliant stroke of malicious corruption, incompetence, and meglomaniachial arrogance) has dramatically increased the probability of a large scale conflict between both individuals and nation states which will kill millions of people in the long run; IMHO this will be eventually looked at the historical equivalent to awarding Hitler the Peace Prize in 1934.

I think when we get folks like Arrafat and Gore getting a Nobel prize it's pretty much a joke at that point (and not a good joke at that).

It's an odd thing to know that neither the Nobel Prize nor a Harvard degree are worthy of respect. For those of you who don't remember this is who Al Gore beat when he won. Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project

To call the Nobel Committee's choice a travesty is to be charitable indeed.

Look at the record. Obama had to have been nominated for things he did before February 1, 2009. What did he do, exactly?

He appointed a pile of criminals to his administration who had broken the law at least as far as nonpayment of taxes went. His Secretary of State is a thief who was never prosecuted for stealing items ranging from vermeil tableware and flatware to furniture from the White House Permanent Collection.

He presided over an inauguration and a bunch of formal balls connected to it.

He ran for President and won, the first (by American criteria) black American to win election to that office.

He sat in the US Senate for about 147 days during his first term - the rest of the time, he was out campaigning to be elected President - and did absolutely nothing. He introduced no bills. He fought for passage of no bills. He voted "present" a lot. His most significant accomplishment was to refuse to sign the amicus brief the Senate sent to the Supreme Court in DC vs. Heller.

He was a state legislator in Illinois. He introduced no bills. He fought for passage of no bills. He voted "present" a lot.

He taught a law course at a university. He was not a tenured professor, merely an instructor.

He was a "community organizer," whatever that is. No one has yet given me a satisfactory explanation of what a community organizer does. From what I can tell, it's a cross between being a Mafioso collecting protection money and being a loudmouthed blowhard activist like "Megaphone Mark" Slackmayer in Doonesbury. During this period, he was an adviser to ACORN, an outfit of community activists that seems to be a criminal organization under the RICO definitions.

Just what has this clown done to earn the Nobel Prize when you compare him to people like Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Theodore Roosevelt, or even Jimmy Carter?

Mother Theresa built a order of nuns, the Missionaries of Charity, from scratch with no help from Rome to help the poor of India. Her work made a difference (and continues to make a difference) in the lives of millions of poverty-stricken low-caste Indians.

Nelson Mandela is an activist in the Mohandas Gandhi mold. He can be argued to be a cross between Gandhi and Abe Lincoln. His dignity through a quarter century of imprisonment and his example freed a nation from minority rule and brought about a peaceful transition of power by democratic means without wrecking his nation, something almost unique in black African history.

Desmond Tutu, very like Gandhi, lives a life that inspires his people. He worked with Mandela in bringing about the transformation of South Africa peacefully. His chairing of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is a major reason there was no race war between the white mainority and the black majority to settle old scores when majority rule came to South Africa. There isn't another non-politician in South Africa who could have managed that remarkable feat.

Theodore Roosevelt brokered the end of the Russo-Japanese War in a way that to some extent saved the Imperial Russian government's face and made the Japanese friends of the United States until the militaristic clique took over the country after World War I (and perhaps coincidentally, after TR's death). He created the National Park system as we know it today. He pushed the United States into the forefront of influential nations.

Jimmy Carter managed to broker a peace accord between Israel and Egypt, mainly by bringing two leaders who were tired of a state of perpetual armed truce together and helping them work out terms whereby their countries could get along with each other, or at least leave each other alone. His work after leaving the White House with Habitats for Humanity has done more lasting good than anything he did while he was President and is an example of how ordinary people coming together can make a difference in their communities.

I reiterate: Apart from being black and being elected President, exactly what has Barack Obama done to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?

To me this is a perfect example of the liberal mindset, "words speak louder than actions"!! You don't really have to do anything you just have to talk a good talk. What a bunch of B.S.!!!
