243/06 Wildcat 100-gr. Rem Core-lokt Ultra

I tested in my 243/06 Wildcat the 100-gr. Rem Core-lokt Ultra, & like it for deer.
It also tested well for penetration & expansion in my 243 Win.

I have only the two center-fire rifles, plus a .22 Remington rim fire that has been at a gun shop for many years.

The 243/06 extends the killing range on deer over the 243 Win.
Click udarrell for a link to the ballistics on many cartridges...

Here in WI, the 4-day antlerless deer season starts October 15th, I will probably use the Rem CLUB bullets & just use the lighter weight 243-Win.

What are your experiences using that CLUB bullet especially in a 6mm caliber?

I'm just going to guess that a .243/06 is a .30-06 case necked down with a .243 bullet?

Seems like short barrel life would be a bit of an issue, as hot a load as that would be.

it has been made before and the proper name is 6mm/06. barrel life is about 1500 accurate rounds and 3000 usable rounds

Sounds like it would perform pretty much like a .240 Weatherby no?

The first ones were called the .240 Super Varmiter introduced by Jerry Gebby who was an early wildcater.

This is generally known as the 6mm-06, a great load. The 6mm-06AI is even better!

Yup...thats what they call it.......6mm-06. Its been wildcatted for many years. The 06 case has been set to wildcats in almost every caliber available. A lot of wildcats have been built of the 308 case too.

So can the 6mm/06 shoot in a .243 or how would you use it. Would you have to shoot it in a 30/06. I thought the smaller diameter bullet wouldn't work in the larger bore. Can someone explain how this works.

you would have to rebarrel a long action with a 243 barrel of some sort...couldnt shoot it in any standard 243 or 30-06

moosemike it is basically the 240 weatherby, but it is better because it is not a weatherby... but still way overbore....
