scope mounts for my savage

I just got a savage 111bth long action in 270 win. need to know what mount and ringes to buy so I can use my bushnell elite. Do I have to use offset mounts or rings

You don't need offset rings. Go grab some Leupold rifleman medium rings, they're good and not gonna break your budget. As for the mount, the rifle should've come with mounts. If it didn't, get a two piece weaver. It'll give you more clearance at the action to load the cartridges. Between the two, it'll cost you $50 bucks around my neck of the woods. I talked to the gunsmith at the local Gander Mountain about other mounts and rings (twist in) and he said that those were nice, but not needed in the least.

Edit: I just read your other post. Deadzero said that you'll need offset one. If he said it, it's probably so. My recommendation would to be to take it to a shop and ask the smith what he'd put on it. And most will mount and boresight it for $20. Well worth it since if you don't mount it correctly or bore sight it, you'll be out more money trying to sight it in than you would if you'd just got it done professionally.
