Kalashnikov was interviewed one time, and they compared him to Garand who had designed like 7 rifles to about a hundred for Kalashnikov and his response was something to the effect that "you only have to do it once when you get it as right as Garand did".

Man I love these old battle rifles. When you hold them to shoot them they just feel so umm so right I would say. They are heavy and solid. They smell like oil and gunpowder. They go through their mechanical steps of chamber fire eject chamber.
