Bought a new CZ 75 BD today and am afraid I'll have a tough time waiting the 10 day wait/doc check here in Moskowfornia. I never picked up a pistol that fits my hand so well...I've shot the B (no decocker) and this is the same animal with the decocker...very accurate and again..fits my hand to a t. So now the clock it ticking till next Thursday.

I really enjoy my 75 bd. At my CCL class, it was by far the best shooter. It's now my regular night stand / truck gun.

It's the 23rd and I finally suffered throught the 10 wait and picked up the 75BD yesterday...cleaned it out well...not too bad under the grips but the magazines were pretty sticky...all nice an clean and lubed up and ready for later today at the range...There is absolutly nothing as enjoyable as taking apart a well made and solid firearm and cleaning and looking it over...I have mostly stuck with higher quality pistols except for one (shall go nameless here) which had a series of problems but seems to be fine now...I compare the way the CZ is made with the other one...a "South American" pistol and the quality of materials and worksmanship is really apparent in the CZ.

I had placed a deposit on a 380 ("the other brand") as the local GS didn't have any 83's in stock or on order and the wait looked to be a long one...phone rang...and when I went to pick up the 75 I switched the layaway deposit to the 83 he had just gotten in ....brand new....so again...wait, wait, wait...I'm broke now but smiling from ear to ear.

Been to the range and as "advertised" ..... a dead accurate pistol..it shoots better than I shoot so I'll take some lessons from it...I haven't found anything I didn't like or even questioned..absolulte best "out of the box" handgun I've ever fired. The pre range clean up was a snap...cleaning after the range was a piece of cake...the pistol behaves wonderfully...Now for the CZ 83 that's coming soon. I also see a 10 in my future if my "wish list" comes to pass...I recently had a 72nd birthday and had been "saving up" for my present...I think it will, again have the intials CZ somewhere in the name. I had thought of a Dan Wesson Bobtail but don't think I need to spend that kind of bucks on one gun when the same money will get me two....and I can't imagine anythng that shoots any better...the Bobtail is pretty but I'm not so I'll get something that matches my style...not flashy, a little thick, experienced, durable, and that behaves (I'm too old not to behave).

How heavy is the trigger pull on the 75?

DA is a bit heavy and was a bit gritty out of the box...I dry fired it (using caps on a CZ) several hundred times before shooting it and things smoothed out and eased a bit...I'll probably do a mild trigger polish on it...Single action operation is to my liking...moves to a location, sort of holds and then releases...I found I could easilly come to the "set" position and have a nice smooth release. I'm not big on a light trigger...I like a heavier feel and this one has that. I guesss there are a lot of folks that get a CZ and the first thing they do is send it off for a full trigger job..Guess it's all in peresonal preference. It's a combat designed work horse that is extremely well built and solid...it is dead accurate but does have a bit of a heavy trigger for some. I like it.

We never see CZ-83s around here. Even CZ-82s don't show up often. I'd like a CZ-83, but I wonder if I can ever find one at a cost-effective price.

Like, say Southern Ohio Gun was offering them for what they sell the 9x18 Makarov CZ-82 for. Right now the -82 is $200. Shipping is anyway another $25. Then there's the $35 transfer fee, and the state sales tax on top of it, call it another $17. So the total cost of the pistol is now $277.

I paid $250 for my CZ-82 out the door. I really resent the additional fees on top of the base price of the pistol, but what can you do?

What I'd like to know is are the CZ-83s that rare, or is it a case of some US import house changing out the barrels from 9x18 to 9x17? According to the literature, a stock CZ-82 mag also accepts .380 ACP cartridges with no modifications required. So just's what is the story? Why don't you see more CZ-83s for sale?
