Tested a couple Kahr's

I'm up in Wisconsin vacationing. Since it is the first time I have seen weather below 55 degrees in over 15 years and only seen it in the high 50's twice in 15 years I've been freezing so I went to the local range in Deerfield, WI one afternoon to play. Real nice range ran by a great guy named Jim. His son, who is a local cop was there too. Nice guy as well. I rented a Kahr CW .40 and a PM .45 too. Much to my surprise the CW .40 which is larger size and heavier kicked a lot more that the PM .45 did. The PM .45 was also a lot more accurate even with a shorter barrel. Of course there is $100+ difference in price but my final opinion after 100 rounds through each rotating 10 through each and switching is I liked the PM .45 a lot. Great little CCW or back up gun. I didn't really care for the CW .40 though. They also had a Ruger SR9 for rent. I didn't rent/shoot it but I handled it for a while. Very nice feel to it. Seems to be a good gun for the dollar. Jim, the range owner, told me he sells a lot of them. He told me he personally took one for himself after shooting a few hundred rounds through it. I think I see a PM .45 in my collection in the future.

That is very interesting. I had a similar experience but on a different caliber. I bought a Kahr CW .45 figuring it was a cheaper way to put a Kahr in my collection and don't like it at all. I shot a friend's Kahr PM 9mm and loved it. Hardly any recall at all. I figured it was the caliber size difference. My plan is to sell or trade the CW .45. Maybe I'll look to rent a .45 PM Kahr and see how that goes. I like the idea of a bigger caliber that can hide easily in my pocket.

I didn't shoot a .45 CW or a 9MM PM but I can tell you the .45 PM Kahr was a joy to shoot. Small gun, big round, small recoil.

I have shot both the polymer 9mm and .45 Kahr pistols, and I loved them both. The .45 wore my trigger finger raw after a box of ammo, but then it isn't a range pistol. Both were extremely easy to shoot on the indoor range, and the 9mm really surprised my in the accuracy department! I will never admit to being a good shot (because I ain't) and I was able to put the 115 grain fmj's right on target everytime!

Now if only they would make a service pistol sized gun and a double stack magazine, Mr. Moon could have some of my hard earned money!

Mr. Moon is another part that bothers me with Kahr. I met the father about 20 years ago when I was commercial fishing. He would come to the Co-Op once in a while during Atlantic Blue Fin Season. Him and his 20 + body guards. Oh well, his son still makes a nice pistol.

I rather like the K-9 all steel model. Nice trigger.
