when i got out of high school for each summer i always had my .22/410 overunder and lots of shells for each and all my fishing stuff not for survival thats just what i kept in my car. and still do.
now i am thinking i want to keep a emergency/survival kit in my car at all time for break downs when i am in the middle of no where. so for all i have on my list is smokes and a liter....well also a roadside kit, flares and all that but what else do you like i need?

Tow rope or chain too. Flashlight for sure. Make sure the spare has air, AND is there.

If I'm just driving around town or the county
Handgun with 2 mags
Knife
Bottled water
Cliff bars
Goretex jacket ( it is washington )
Sleeping bag
Craftsman Mechanics tool set
Bag of wrenches
Spare tire

If I am heading to a rural area or the mountains I'll throw the12g in the back with the tube and butstock loaded with 00 buck and a box of slugs. If I'm heading to the city or a real bad area I throw the AR in the back with a few mags and some nomex gloves with hardened kevlar knuckles and quick clot.

Forgot to add 40 rds of .30-06 ammo, 40 rds of 9mm+P, Italian surplus wool coat, one pocket radio, can of spam, rain jacket, scarf, gloves and gaiters and one pair of underwear - which I believe is clean.

I have been camping and hunting so much these last two months that I just don't clean out my car. At some point I am going to consolidate my gear, but it is nice just having things at the ready!

As for the spare munitions, that is a normal thing for me - if you need ammo for something, there is a good chance I have it nearby!

Mine is awesome, a little heavy for backpacking, but worth it when the mercury drops. I have had mone for some time now, and I think I got it for less than $10.
