Canada: Time to end the failed registration experiment
In 2006, our government promised to end the wasteful registry and instead focus important crime fighting resources on real criminals, not our farmers and hunters. Unfortunately, the opposition parties have continually blocked the efforts.
"The long-gun registry does not accomplish these objectives, is ridiculously expensive and wasteful, and discriminates against and inconveniences our law-abiding and responsible citizens. It's an experiment that has failed and should never have been tried in the first place."
I suppose it's too much to hope for that American politicans and American courts who of late have taken to citing foreign precedents to support their decisions will pay attention to this one from Canada. But we can hope.
