Any Republicans who went along with that scam should be shot for stupidity.
It was nothing but a scam to get the parasites free benefits for life.
You see, while they cut welfare benefits to 2 years for LIFE, they transitioned the people who were on welfare their whole life over to the SSI rolls. Which can't be taken away.
So the only people the "welfare reforms" hurt were working people who lose their jobs and need a safety net till they get a new one.
The bums and parasites just signed up for their SSI checks for their mythical disabilities, most of which can't be detected on x ray or cat scan or through lab work.
Just like Monica Lewinsky, the fact that Slick Willie was lusting for something should have convinced an intelligent individual something wasn't kosher.
I will tell you another good one.
A few weeks ago I had to go to the courthouse to pick up some documents. I stopped to see a friend of mine who works as a clerk and have her look up the records and get a file number for me.
I had to wait while some 'lady' requested free legal help because she had done something to get in trouble with the law.
The clerk asked her if she had any taxable income she said she didn't.
Then she had to go through her total income.
She got close to $700 a month from SSI for a disability despite the fact she seemed healthier than me. I have bone spurs in my arthritic hip and walk funny.
She had two children who got disability checks. One for being a slow speaker- $500 a month for being shy- and the other one got $600 a month for having the fidgets. She got $300 a month in food stamps and the HUD paid for her rent which was $450 a month.
She complained that she had to pay $450 a month car payment for her new Tahoe and that they would not give her a medical card (despite the fact she appeared to be able bodied and had no monthly medications- the clerk who is diabetic like I am had asked about that).
So basicaly this woman is living the good life to the tune of $2000 a month tax free dollars to sit on her hind end and get in trouble with the law.
In the meantime, I make roughly half that after taxes and work two jobs, and drive a ten year old truck.
I think all these social programs need to be redone so that those benefits go to people working 40 hours a week at minimum wage jobs and nothing goes to those who are just chronically lazy.
Its a shame that there are women in my county working two jobs to provide for their children and this leach sits on her hiney and lives it up with the tax money stolen from working people.
