ati stock

anyone tried putting the collapsable ati stock on their shotgun?..i like the way the grip is, but I am having a hard time pumping the shotgun since my finger isn't in the same position as it was with the regular stock..is there anything I could do to make it easier to hit the pump release?

I understand what you're saying...with a conventional stock I reach under the trigger guard with my right middle finger to push the slide release. With my ATI pistol grip stock...I use my right thumb, just push upwards with the thumb while in shooting position.

LOL I had to get my shottie to see exactly how I do it...it's just instinct, I wasn't even sure exactly how I did it until I had the gun in my hands.

I use the thumb of my right hand when I'm shooting righty. The hard part for me with a pistol grip on my Mossy shotgun is the safety. Up and over.

I just installed the ATI # 4100 stock on my Mav 88. [Safety down by trigger guard] used to use my second finger to press the bolt latch. You can still get to it, it takes some relearning. Now you just pull the trigger on an empty gun and rack the slide, or stretch that finger some. Like playing a new guitar. I wish Mossberg would make that bolt latch bigger or something.
Notes on an my ATI installation. You ATI reps out there, listen up.
On a Mossy/Mav S/G you Must have the MWR 4500 Stock drop adapter [optional item] to lower the comb a 1/2" so you can use TruGlos turkey sites. With out it you are too high, you have to crush face on stock to aim. They could of included it, for 7.00 extra. A hassle sending off for one, Cabela's doesn't stock them. Vendors need to teach sales reps this, because hassles doesn't sell these days.
Another cool item is the STM 1200 mini mag light holder. It fits into the bottom hole of the pistol grip and holds a 1" or 3/4" mini mag and I now keep two AA batteries in the grip as spares for my mini mag cushioned by cleaning patches or earplugs.
I found storage use for the inner slide tube on the multi-position stock. I put a 12 GA Bore-snake down it and and some cleaning patches in it and sealed it with a bicycle handle bar rubber plug.
Then I installed some Mikes swivels and topped it out with a Black Hawk 15 round strap for it.
Everything, from shells to cleaning and batteries for the light for the gun is on the gun. You just grab it and go. I cut my 28" ribbed barrel down to 19" and put TruGlos on it. Those with 18.5" smooth barrels might want the heat shield with ghost ring sites or the muzzle end /light holder.
Has some one shot it and does it have more recoil? I found the butt pad to be pretty cheesy, I filled it up with Silicon Seal, or I may have to use a slip on Limbsaver that came off the old stock, or a Pro Mag butt pad. Now my Mav 88 is totally tactical. SKS Stocks, Shotgun Stocks, Gun Accessories (Winchester, Remington, Mossberg) by Choate, ATI, more Nice people there.

Thats how I've been doing it but I have to take my eye off the target(w/old stock i could look down sites, while racking it)and i don't really like doing that. Maybe I'll get better w/ practice

I keep mine mag tube full, chamber empty, safety off, and pull the trigger so all I have to do is rack and shoot. Just be 100% sure the chamber IS EMPTY before doing so.

Deersniper- I shoot 31/2"s through mine (it's technically my turkey gun) and the recoil aint too bad with the ATI stock. It's worse then the 835 with oversized barrel and muzzle ports though. 23/4" 00B or slug aint bad at all.

When hunting or skeet shooting, I use my left hand to operate the safety most of the time.

My 535 came with a screw-on strap for the fore-end...I tried it out, then removed it. What is the point of that strap exactly? LOL

It's tacticool.

Honestly, I have heard some people swear it helps them manage recoil. Personally, if I was trying to manage recoil with my support hand, I'd feel like I was doing something wrong.

Its basicly an ohh sh*t item. If your hand was injuryed how would you work the action? Or even hold the gun and fire? Put it back on and check out what im saying. Pretend you dont have full use of your fingers. If its a defence gun id have at least have that strap on. If not a pistol grip and the strap mounted on the side just in case.
