Anyone else have a shopping center with this sign…ROTFL…
I think i will borrow it and put it up in my outhouse……More folks would appreciate it there….
The handicap signs are great helps. A lot of folks that would have a rough time walking or parking can really benefit from those signs..Maybe this sign could go at the other end of the parking lot where one would never get his or her car dinged up and this space here they could add another Handicap space, makes more sense to me that there would be more disabled folks than green car owners…
What do you think?..…..…... http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/att...1&d=1255699688
Last time I was in CA I saw alot of those signs where there should have been handicap parking instead. But what do you expect I was in CA.Thats awhole different world to me now that I live in OK.
Haven't seen those around here. Handicap parking, yes. "New and Expectant Parents," yes. But not something that gives preferential treatment to so-called "fuel efficient" cars.
And who decides what cars qualify? No one will argue with a Prius, or a Chevy Volt if they ever reach the market. Neither will they argue with a Tesla - it is an electric car even if it looks like it's going 100 miles an hour standing still. (And yes, I've seen one on the road, once.) A Smart Car would not be questioned - assuming someone didn't squash it by turning too fast into what they thought was an empty parking space. Nor would they argue with the diesel-electrics some of the manufacturers are testing.
On the other hand, a properly maintained Mercedes Benz 300 SDL or 350 SDL will easily get a minimum of 30 mpg highway. Some get as much as 35 mpg highway. That in my book qualifies as efficient, especially for a car model that's a minimum of 18 years old. But I can just hear the outraged howls of the politically correct eco-nuts were an owner of such a Mercedes to park his fuel-efficient German panzer in a space that is in their minds reserved for the PC Prius!
So as I said, who gets to decide which cars qualify as "fuel efficient?"
I say park your 1980s Chevy Big Block in that space and let it run while you go in grab a 12pack of coke, a couple bags of Lays Classic Tato Chips and BS for a few minutes with the clerk. Then when you go to leave rev the engine and let a big blue cloud of smoke out your exhaust and drive off. Haha!!

Earl, They are becoming more and more popular nowdays. I recently took a certification course in Green building (LEED) and they are pushing this type of thing heavily. You will also notice that the parking spaces continue to shrink in size as it's another way to try and get you to go to a smaller vehicle.

Yep your right,i have read a lot of your certified courses and the building aspects now
that are out there. I think its ok,but ya know an old fella like me remembers the crank phones, eating at home every night at a certain time with all the family, gas at 19 cents a gallon so on and so forth...ROTFL....Just that i can not get used to the changes i guess anymore. My youngest brother is in construction and in his own company, he has put up with a lot of new rules and regulations, i myself just can't realize how he does it..
Even the new rules that are now in place in the country where i built this home only 10 years ago have changed a lot more...some great ideas and and others that are just paper trails.
Hey Thanks for stopping by...... take care............Earl

LOL I am out of the loop...I read some of this crap and can't hardly fathom it. In the Ozarks...we don't have much eco/greenie/pinko/liberal/commie/antigun BS.

thrillbilly that is the way it was 10 years ago here. I remember calling the electric
inspector and all he asked if i did the electric right, well i aint no electrician. I also called about the propane 1000 gal. tank, the county wanted to see the hole, the tank, the drainage, and so many ft. from the home and then give me the ok to drop it in and cover it with dirt. When i called they asked me also, did you do it right?????????YEP I GUESS..LOL....
Well any way now they are a lot more concerned and most of the time are very picky
with the rules..
As far as doing every thing right,i have had no problems yet....
My '56 Buick with 322 nailhead running leaded gas will take up that space, then the next one and a half spaces next to that one! Or I could just take the '62 Corvair and make everyone happy... unsafe at any speed?

Bureaucracies LOVE to pat themselves on the back by being politically correct in the eyes of one another. Let us give praise to Al Gore for the internet and a greener planet. (except for India and China, and.....)
More and more people think that they are 'special' and thus deserve preferential treatment and like the fuel effecient vehicle a too small parking space for any normal size car. My 1977 Chevy 1 ton pickup would fit nice in there or I would 'make it fit'.
My Pick up is far more fuel efficient than any of these "Green" cars. When i moved this summer i hooked on to my trailer loaded my belongings in the trailer and the bed of my truck and pulled the loaded trailer 350 miles on a tank of gas. lets see a Prius do that!!!!!!
Get than little toy out of my spot.....

I'd park my F-350 right there and leave the engine running!
Amen. The closest thing I've seen to that in TX are wider parking spots that are designated "Pickups Only".
If you can find me a Prius that will seat six, tow my boat, haul a cubic yard of gravel or a pallet of sod, and navigate mudded out trails on the ranch, I'll buy it... till then, I shouldn't be hated on for driving a vehicle that fits my needs.
Guess I'd have to get an 1992 Suburban to park there just so's I could scoff at the sign.
They're ALL fuel efficient......at least if you compare them with the gas the obamajet uses (burns about 10 metric tons of gas an hour in cruise at medium weights).

I haven't seen any here yet. As far as I know the only space I can't legally park in is reserved for handicapped. I would park there and who cares what the greenie weenies think.
