Bubba 98?

I was at gander mtn today, and they have a 98 mauser 8mm for $99.00. From what I could tell it is not matching and was bubba-ized. It has the front sight post, but drilled and tapped for a scope. It actually had bases on it. Also, it was in a new stock that looks kinda ugly. It looks to be in good condition though. I'm looking for a new gun that I can put a scope on. Should I go for this? I don't reload and GM only had remington soft points for $30. I don't reload as of now. What do you guys think?

The action alone is worth A $100 bucks you could have yourself a custom gun just by having it rebarreled to the caliber you want.

Id buy it for that. At the very least you can shoot the crap out of it.

I'd buy it, have it headspace checked, and, if good, stick an inexpensive scope on it. You won't have more than 150 bucks in it and it may be a good shooter. If not, you can always get your money out of it.

If the bore and headspace is ok you found yourself a keeper. IF it is already
tapped and drilled for a scope better still. You can by wolf 8mm for around $15 a box (non corrosive). If you don't mind shooting corrosive surplus even less.
You can always get a new stock
Just make sure they will take it back or fix it should you have any firing problems.
Good deal!
