Have you got the census letter?

2% of the population of Florida is getting census letters demanding by law a whole list of questions that amounts to the 4 th being violated. Has any one gotten it? They say on the envelope that failure to answer it is against the law. 100.00 dollar per item fine. Is this for real, and how are people resisting?

No,

but I will either resist or send them crap info.
That is also the way to deal with pollsters.

The questions do appear very intrusive. Below is the government link.

I have never filled one out, they go strait to the burn barrel, besides without it being sent regestered mail they could never prove you got it.

Well, according to Fedlaw it's a 100.00 fine for non response, and 500.00 for crap answers. My friend got a special '"American Community Survey" sent to the two percent, even wanting bank accounts and detailed info for up to five people there. Fine for failure to respond to a "A C S" survey 5,000.00. WTH? Isn't that against the 9 th and 10 th as well as the fourth? They weren't designed to impede each other.

From reading on many other websites, there has never been anyone forced to pay that supposed fine. One year I did NOT send the census crap in, another I sent in only the number of people living under my roof - ONE. They are not Constitutionally allowed anything more.
The true Census comes out in 2010. This 'early letter' will be burned in the rest of the trash.

Thanks Big Dog. America is FED up and tired of unlawful scare tactics. Mass non compliance may be the only answer. It's the groups collecting the data I have lost trust in, that's forever broken. You can't trust any corporation with your info. They sell it or get hacked. Some how it winds up in the mainframe.

The problem with not responding is that the left leaning voters out there "always" respond, sometimes multiple times with the aid of ACORN type organizations padding the numbers, and the voting districts get redrawn in their favor every 10 years.

the govt will tell you anything, when i became disabled I found out you dont have to file with IRS either but ill bet a lot of disabled people do in fear they will come after you, I havent filed for 6 years and have never recieved anything from IRS reguarding it, and I had my share of audits when i worked, go figure

Deersniper, I got three in the mail, each one thrown away. I am now getting calls about once or twice a week. To mess with them I answer the phone and answer a few of the questions in Farsi. It's actually getting to be alot of fun. I usually do this for a minute or two then hang up. As far as I know the real census dosent take place until 2010. When that happens I will do like Big Dog says, and put the number of people living in my home and nothing more.

Census - why the fuss?

Interesting take on the census. I looked at the questions and they didn't ask me about guns, political affiliations, religion, or really anything I find objectionable to answer. It is true that these numbers will decide any reapportionment and it you don't give a *&*& about who is representing you, or if you are represented at all, by all means ignore the census. If you don't care about government spending, by all means ignore the letter. Then you will get a visit by a paid census taker. If you do not support the Constitution, or pick and choose which parts you support, ignore the census, which is Constitutionally mandated. If you think the data will be used against you, you are ignorant of the confidentiality requirements of census data. It will not go to anyone like immigration, IRS, FBI, CIA, local police or anyone else, except in statistical form. I.e., X people live in such and such an area and the ratio is Y to Z, male to female. No names. Names become public record only after 72 years, so people can trace their geneology and such. Which of you will be here then? Or fear your IRS dodging will surface then?

10 questions that you can answer in a few minutes, or spend hours fighting it to say nothing of the added millions it costs all of us to send someone to visit you.

and FYI the stuff you got last year is real census, just not this particular part. The Census is run by the Dept of Commerce and that data is available to business owners, large and small as needed. So if you owned your own small business, say a gun shop, you might be interested in the information offered. Otherwise take your chances without all the info available.

I don't like paying taxes anymore than you, but until we can get people to stop supporting certain other people I'm afraid we're stuck. I don't like useless government either but it's not all useless. I like the military. I like the interstates. I like the national parks. I'll gladly pay my share for these. Your mileage may vary.
