The way I see it is that all great and powerful countries/civilizations did'nt just die, they commited suicide!
Even now our children are being taught that diversity, not united is the way.
Keeping your own culturs and customs rather than assimilateing is the way.
Blame the majority for your unhappy circumstances,(even though some are living better than they have ever lived in their life) thanks to the majority.
Our leaders boast of honoring our fighting men and women,at the same time they throw away, even force upon some, the very things our warriors, much more honorable than the greedy/cowards,died for.
Even now the banksters are gaining control of all the money, trying to do away with cash,so they can control us,and don't think that they can't do it with money.
The middle class is disappearing, being replaced by a few uppers and the rest lowers, most middle class just makeing it from pay day to pay day,and the bank can raise the interest rate on a card from 13% to 25% at any time they want.
Suppose that you had several cards and the payments on each went from $200 to $500,how would that work out for you?
The Big O says refinance, but your home has decreased in value to the point that the bank woun't do it.
There are gonna be some hard times ahead,I don't believe we are going to remain a great world power, policeing the rest of the world, but will wind up just another country in the world community.
There's more, but I think I will give you all a break before I bore you to death.

This nation was founded on specific principles, and laws. We need to get back to upholding those principles and laws, no matter who's feelings may be hurt. Illagal aliens break our law to get here, therefore they should be sent back where they came from, and come here legally. We have too many people staying past their visas, and too many people jumping oour borders! We are unable to assimilate these hordes into our society, and thery continue to weaken the fabric of the nation. The same problem befell ancient Rome, and it ceased to exist. We need to study history and try to learn from it, before we lose the ability to do so!

Steve, you asked what good having candidates sign the pledge listed in my post would do? My take on it is that it would allow our citizens to vote for someone who agrees that our Government must adhere to the Constitution and Bill of Rights first and foremost in all proposed legislation.

they say that when the goths were at the gates of Rome, the senators were there applauding the goths and holding open the gates.

is history repeating itself?

Hi ottawa rouge

Can't say about Roman senators but it is well known the Roman Empire was so lost as far as the citizens were concerned cities to the north of Rome quite often made the following deal: If you will let us keep our gods we will gladly stand by while you rush on to Rome. It was often not so much an invasion of the empire as it was a trip down the road.

There is the classic historical observation - It was not that Rome "fell" but that Romans failed to fight for it as they had lost interest in it.

I dont think we have failed to fight for our country yet with all the tea parties and groups like this out there but it does seem like it sometimes. I think there is so much tension and anger out there American are just waiting for a spark.

Hi sea_chicken 1

Your post has touched one the most tender "nerves" of the American psyche.

It is so very controversial - since the end of WW2 (Japan attacked us and Germany declared war on us) can we consider Korea, Vietnam, Gulf One, and the Bush2 wars as fighting for America? Many people believe our nation has squandered its real spirit of patriotism on questionable, if not useless, endeavors.

Perhaps it would have been better if this great expenditure of conservative effort would have stayed withing the borders of our nation keeping the political character of our nation on a more conservative path?
