New Baby Dragoon that is. This 2nd gen Colt came to me in poor condition, peened cylinder notches, short arbor and misaligned barrel and cylinder. Both wood panels had gouges to deep to repair without using a filler. Machined a spacer for the arbor, new bolt for alignment, cleaned up the cylinder notches and set the timing. I had a set of faux ivory grips from the 'gripmaker' Two nights of fitting the grips, an old case and flask, it came out looking pertty nice I think.

considering how you got it I say you got one good pistol how did you get it and for how much?
It came off gunbroker, listed by a gun shop in AZ. They did not list the fact that it was a 2nd gen Colt although the photos clearly showed the "Colts Patent" on the frame. Winning bid of 283.50. The grips ran about 35 bucks and I have about four hours work in it. I put twenty five rounds through it Sunday. I can cram just under 20 grs in the chambers max but it liked a 15 gr load the best. Minute of man at seven yards, just what it was designed for.

This is a LeMat, made in Europe for the CSA, it's a nine shot .44 cylinder that revolves on a 20ga shot barrel. The original assault weapon. Favored by Confederate officers, they make a Navy model, Army model and a Calvary model. The originals came in several calibers and both percussion cap and pin fire. A nice original can run well over 30k.
These black powder revolvers can become very additive, most a very affordable to buy and to shoot.
