softball season is over

my middle daughter played her final game today.
it's been such a big part of our life this year between my 2 daughters, and now it's over.
My wife and i are wondering what to do with all the free time

an empty ballpark is a sad sight, i'm kinda bummed

ottawa rogue...I understand what you're saying. You and your family have been supporting your daughter's interests and hobby. That's a big plus in your sense of family values. Your daughter may not realize it now how much you've sacraficed for her hobby...but no doubt that eventually she'll know it because "what goes around comes around." Hope her season was successful both scorewise...and learningwise.

My wife and I have been enjoying our two youngest grandkids (7 & 8 y.o) sports ventures. Their season will be closing soon. I've learned a lot about soccer watching those games. Biggest enjoyment for me is watch those kids develop both physically and mentally. Their competitive spirits are definitely beginning to show. Fortunately, the parents and fans have behaved and the coach has done a great job of keeping the game both "fun" and "a learning' adventure.

Now...on to watching their basketball season soon. That's gonna be fun to watch, too.

After that will be either be baseball or flag football. It's really difficult for parents to manage their time with all those activities. Don't know how they get it done...but they're trying.

Am watching my Gransons play soccer, also. The first attempt at organized sports but both Parents were good athletes so they'll probably do fine. Hey, OR, I know you'll miss being at the ball park, I do, and don'e even have any daughters playing.
My Sister retired last Feb. from ASA Softball, after 40 years. Her last position was
Junior ASA Commissioner for the state of Mississippi. She passed away in June, but
did what she loved her entire life. Helping kids enjoy the game. Her kids grew up in
a ball park and they turned out to be fine adults. I was proud of her time spent and
I guess that's why I love the game so much. I support the local College's Womens
Basketball and Softball programs (of which the Softball teams have won a couple
of National Championships). I know you're proud of your girls and sports teach
life lessons also. Good Luck to them in the future. Didn't mean to run on so long.

I know how you feel, kind of empty right now. But something else will come along that they are interested in, and you will be right there with them supporting them, because it seems you are exactly the kind of good parents who do that. When I read stuff like this, I get a sense that all's right with the world in these kids' lives, because of their parental involvement.
