Hunted yesterday, saw lots of birds but no deer. I stayed in my stand until 2 hours past shooting light and saw the deer then. Some, even 5 feet from the tree I was in. Stupid deers! The temp was 19 and about 10" of snow on the ground. It was a good day anyway.

Went to a farm and shot a couple of rabbits with the .22mag. Deep snow and the rabbits stayed tight. I had to actually kick them to get them to run. Dinner for one night this week anyway.

Went out the past three days in below zero weather and hunted. this afternoon I connected witha large doe. Four were coming in, I waited for the first two small ones to pass, then shot the big one. the arrow hit her through the shoulders, connecting with much bone so it did not pass through. She fell where she was hit, not taking another step, and when she hit, the arrow pushed back up. She bled out internally and rather quick. No following a blood trail. Here's the pic of her where she landed and another of her in the snow.

sorry I'm late to this thread.
Deerhuntertyler - the trees sure look like poplar/ quaking aspen trees ( just like Wily1 said) quaking aspen groups are very popular in MN! they spread by the roots & grow fairly quick.
they're pretty much popular from twin cities & up if not throughout the state, more so to moist soil.

Rambo - congrats on the deer how many can you tag in Iowa during the deer season ?

As many as the tags you buy. Some areas have more available than others, for does that is. One buck in bow season and one buck in firearms season.

lucky you, we can only tag 1 buck during the whole deer season, the bonus doe tags vary between areas 0-6
sidenote, we have a bunch of idiots running our DNR

Nice thread and hunt, Rambo! Thanks for all the pictures...I do admire bow hunters...I just hope the first one did not suffer too much...

I sure do enjoy deer meat, especially when corn feed..
