Bow deer 2009

Hit a large doe this morning. Low, angling forward. She ran. I found my arrow, full penetration but some bowel on it. I followed some blood but backed out and will give her 8 hours to die.

Wish you the best of luck finding your deer, looks like a good blood trail to me.

Best help you can have is a well-trained cadaver dog.

Blood tracker kits are available to help those not blessed with dog help

That deer is out there...you just have to work to find it

I bet you'll find her, that's a good blood trail. The one I killed over the weekend with my 50 cal muzzleloader didn't leave a blood trail as good as that one.

Went out after work last night and using binoculars, found her laying down, head still up. She was still alive so I got one arrow into her as she could not stand back up. Part of an intestine was portruding from her abdomen as well, where the arrow hit a little far back and exiting through the right lung. Tough critters. She still had another doe with her that must've been pushing her. She was on another property that I don't have permission to hunt but took my bow in anyway. I hope she tastes good what with all the adrenalin pumping through her to keep her alive. I'm grinding it into burger after dinner tonight.

Congratson the deer tonight was my first bow hunt of 2009. Usually would have had 5 or 6 under my belt by now. But a combo of unseasonally warm weather followed by days of 60-70 km winds and of course work nixed a few days. Have 6 off now so hope to hunt at least 5 of them. But here is the view from the tree where I spent my evening. Its usually not this green this time of year and the snow we had last week is all gone

Really? How far north are you? I see lots of birch trees in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

In Manitoba they are called White Poplar but Blaster is right as well as they are also known as Trembling Aspen! Birch Trees are more common in the Eastern/Northern/Parkland Region of the Province where they are mixed in with Spruce and Pine.

Hunted the past few days. Saw small bucks and some does. Big buck chasin doe yesterday so the rut is on. Here's my buddy Timmy with his deer from two days ago. This weighed 281 lbs, before gutting, and has a 33" neck. We green scored him at 155"+. He's still going on the wall.

Here's Timmy's brother, Eddie, with his 11 point buck taken the same night. I gotta quit looking at these bucks because I let an 8 point walk tonight, at 12 yards, because he wasn't big enough. I'd a shot him last week.

Here's another pic. Timmy shot a second buck last night but didn;t find him until today(gut shot). It's the one on the left. Needless to say, at 60 degrees out, he was ripe. Anyway, Timmy's outa buck tags. The other two deer are from night before last. They are all three in my freezer, waiting to be caped out. It's a big freezer.

My wife shot this buck this morning. It came in on my bad side and I spooked it trying to get into position. It ran and then stopped in front of my wife at about 15 yds. Can't beat that.
