Colt .22 AR

I just checked out the Colt .22 AR15 and it seems like a pile of crap for $700 bucks. The upper doesn't break down, I couldn't figure out how to field strip it. Anyone have any range reports on it? I am sure I could build a .22 for the same price if not less. And the lower would be usefull for other weapons.

There was a guy on GunBroker who had several of them. He had some creative uses for them, none of them involving shooting. I've heard they're crap, they're not even built by Colt. I would not touch one.

I have buddys that ran out and bought the ar15 22's and they agree that the Colt is the worst of the group, for just a little over 400.00 you can get the M&P 15-22 and it is a keeper. functions like the 223 and is a hoot to shoot. accurate and a heck of a lot cheaper to take to the range.

redbeernuts 700 sounds allot steep for the colt, i know i did not pay that much for mine. as an owner of the colt .22 i am very satisfied with my purchase, this one is a keeper for me. there is allot of info on ar15.com, but heres some pics and range results, remember its always good to research and find out more on the colt

i put a scope and so far this is my best shots @50 yards, trigger a bit heavy though

recently added a cheap red dot, 30 round mag dump @ 25 yards no jams, with rest, american eagle 38 gr hp

My SIL wants an AR really badly, but with a single income and two little kids its a bit out of reach. He got a kit for his 10/22 and it works just fine for him while still giving the look of an AR.

It's not just the look but the training I could do with a .22 AR. It would be so much cheaper to train with than a .223. I would need the exact function of the AR so the 10/22 wouldn't work

Try a .22 conversion kit for an AR-15, cost a lot less then the .22 Colt, I bought an Air Force conversion for my AR-15, it has the military numbers on it , pretty cool , and it works!!
