Saw the pics on Ebay... Hard to understand without seeing the barreled action with it out of the stock.

How sturdy is this thing? I like it... I think I need it... I just want to make sure it's going to hold up and hold zero. (no offense jmeck, I just don't understand how exactly it works...)

Jmeck's mount is likely to be the most reliable way of connecting things to the receiver w/o drilling it.

i too, would love to see the mount without the wood in the way. i bet a lot more people would be using it, if they saw just how it works.

Here's an eBay auction. If it's like the other similar mount, it uses a simple hose clamp to affix to the barrel.

How does it work? OK, here is the skinny. It uses a 1 inch wide .025 inch
thick steel strap. It works in principle like a "band clamp". The strap has aprox. the strength of a 5/16 inch bolt, way more than necessary to hold a scope on a Mosin. The strap forms to the receiver when tightened, locking the mount in place. The bottoms of all Mosin receivers are flat and since the strap is steel it won't move. Is it strong? Yes,anything that could move the mount will likely destroy your scope or damage your rifle.Heres a couple of pics which should give you a better understanding of how it works. Thanks for the interest guys.

I am getting my "scout scope" mount from a guy on one of the other boards named Darrell, it has gotten some very good reviews from people who have used them. Plus, I don't need to invest in a bent bolt assembly which is nice as well. I will post a range report as soon as I get it and my long eye relief scope mounted.

Thats my listing. It not a hose clamp, more like a U-bolt that is tightened on one side.
